Cassandra is a nearly-feral dragoness who was found by the Indrali House as she wandered aimlessly near their newly-established territory. Kolaire and Viola were the first two try to reach out and befriend the skydancer, but were attacked for their efforts when they got too close. Rokshata was the next to approach, with very different motives: If Cassandra was a threat to Rokshata's House, she would be put down. It didn't quite come to that. When Rokshata came upon her she immediately sensed something off about the skydancer, other than wild aggressiveness. Something magically off. Carefully, she captured the dragoness and (with several of her soft-hearted witches begging her) set up a controlled environment near the House grounds to try to make sense of what was going on with the skydancer. Over the next several seasons they discovered that Cassandra had acquired a magical power that was not quite her own. Perhaps not anyone's, but a thing with a mind to itself, trying to use Cassandra as a moving host. Within several trials they managed to contain the vicious magic, though it required Astarte's circlework and Rokshata's power to do and even still, it could not be cleansed from the 'host'. Only trapped inside her. The minute the containment spell activated, a talking Skydancer appeared. She only knew her name: Cassandra. Not how she'd come to be this way. Not even why she was in Shadow lands. The last memory she had, she'd been in Ice territory with her family...A family she could no longer remember the names and faces of. Wary of her lost memories and scared to return to her family lest the infested magic take control of her again, Cassandra now resides within Indrali's Town, spending most of her days on the outskirts of it serving loosely as a guard. At night she bunks down in a small house outside the fenced-off House grounds. Though several territorial Indrali Witches have protested to her close presence, Rokshata has given her blessing. Over time Cassandra has slowly regained bits and pieces of her memory, though much of it is still a blur, to the point that she even has trouble with common language. |
