Biography

Prism, breeding ineffectually to get a mist/pearl/rose irishim coatie girl. Many mates, never got there. Meaning took care of her, for a time, but Prism eventually left.

Everything’s changed, now. Prism’s had to change, shifting around the space her partner and the final, long-awaited for and loved hatchling lived in. (She didn’t even have a name yet.) Hoping that she can fill in that space with the sharp, sharp sides of her own heart.

But how can she really talk about it? Who would she tell? Refraction isn’t here anymore. It’s almost as if she’s a new dragon, the weight of responsibility to her partner lifted - and without that weight to ground her, she’s floating away. Every little particle of her being is floating further and further apart, and she’s now an amorphous cloud crackling with the thunder of her sorrow.

Thundering sorrow, numbness, relief, a wanting so strong she’s gasping for air in her nest - but most of all, guilt. She wasn’t home in time.

But how can she talk about these things? Her partner’s gone.

So Prism grins wildly and stares down new recruits and beastclan members alike, the half-moon shine of the whites of her eyes visible. She’s pretending to be the same as she was before. Even though her bloodlust has cooled and her fierce joys have dissipated, she’s play-acting a mad parody of who she was.

She doesn't know any other way to be.
————
If you go nosing above-ground, near the original dam, Prism and Refraction have their own shared den in the second hollow log - yeah, the one with all the gems and shiny strips of metal added to the front wall of brambles. Inside, if you take a seat, there's more of the same. The outside is gloomy wood and dark plants firmly seated in loamy soil. The inside is bright, with the dirt tamped down into a dry, soft floor. Along where it intersects with the wooden tree making up the back wall, there's a large pile of soft things where the two sleep.

Prism is probably off in the coli, gleefully fighting to bring home more trinkets and things for Refraction. Sure, they're mates, but she wants to show off how capable of a fighter she is to her darling. If you ask nicely, she'll be happy to teach you a few tricks; be careful with what you ask, though. Prism's settled into the shadow life quite handily, and her displays aren't always exactly for battle.

Born a nameless wildclaw in a rather large, venerable lair near the Twisting Crescendo, she's joyful and exploratory, like all wind dragons. Bright-eyed and bushy-crested, she set off to explore (and to grow stronger, maybe - might've been that wildclaw bloodline itching to get out and fight) and join different dens. Each one she stayed in held her fancy, and her own cheerful attitude held theirs, but one day a stopover in the Shifting Expanse brought her face-to-face with an oddly humming nameless coatl who stood taller than her.

Entranced by his glimmering wings, she quickly set herself to befriending the plauge dragon. By her green eyes, he thought she was from nature - and was just as determined to avoid her advances. He stayed by Lotus, his mentor, and turned an iridescent tail to every gift. But she was determined to win him over. Very slowly, he warmed to her, and then started to hunt with her, and then - when she left the clan in search of another, new, adventure, he followed suit.

They wandered together past the Tsunami Flats, and were entranced by the sparkling waters there for a time. A quick trip through the Hewn City and a longer trip in the sparkling light of the Sunbeam Ruins ended up with the pair in the Tangled Woods. Seduced by darkly bubbling brooks and led astray by tricky mushroom lights in the Wispwillow grove, they were picked up by Starshine on his first solo foray away from Mixie and their abandoned dam. They gratefully ate, and then decided to stay the night and hunt in the morning to repay the mated pair before moving on.

Clearly, they haven't yet left.
