Kavi

Kavi spent most of his youth making a living for himself as a poet, selling humorous or political verses to keep himself fed. When he had the time, he experimented a little with his poetry, but never had enough money to comfortably write what he wanted. When he saw an advert for a competition that would house and feed him while he worked on his entry, he jumped at the opportunity without looking too much into it.

Little did he know, this was a competition to earn the patronage of the Leviathan, a powerful undersea creature who would care for and support a poet of her choice in any way they needed, in return for them perfecting their craft. Thousands of dragons flooded to her cavern to enter the competition, Kavi among them.

After a week of enjoying the relative freedom of the caves, Kavi finally began to write. He'd always written with the constraints of other dragons and the market in mind, but now he was free to write anything and everything. He let his imagination run wild, and ended up with an epic poem, longer and crazier than what he'd ever been able to write before. And to his unbelievable shock, it won.

He was crowned Poet of the Leviathan soon afterwards. Although he didn't see his patron, she promised to provide him with anything he needed to write. He asked if he could travel again, and she naturally agreed, providing him with magic, funds, and a way to contact her if she needed.
