Nocturnes are mimics, and octopus are masters of mimicry! Living in the ocean has given these Nocturnes the same adaptations. They can change their skin’s color and texture to match surroundings or communicate emotions.

Their wings are more suited for propelling themselves through water than flying, but can provide some lift if necessary for emergencies. Mostly, however, the wings and wing membranes serve as a highly mobile extension of their camouflage. The webbing is looser and more flexible than that of their more arboreal cousins, allowing it to shift and pinch and fold and change texture more easily.

Their hands and feet might be small, but they’re strong, with talons made to hold onto stones during rough tides, and to grip prey. A prehensile tail helps, too. The final weapon in their arsenal is a venomous bite made to immobilize marine mammals, birds, and a powerful jaw to crush insect and shellfish shells.
