Biography

Eminaire
the lavender haze mage

──────────────────────────────────────

biography.

There was a time where Eminaire believed she would spend her years with her clan on the outskirts of the Hewn City, tending to lush rooftop terraces and arranging blossoms on banquet tables. Her evenings would be brimming with energy as she arranged blossoms on banquet tables and hung wreathes from the rafters. Life as a florist's apprentice seemed idyllic. And it was, for a few weeks, at most.

The plants weren't particularly good conversationalists (though, she talked to them anyway), and matching planters to mosaics only felt like a fun puzzle the first few times. The tedium was gnawing at her.

Her mentor began sending her on deliveries to the local alchemist "to burn off energy." The lists took her across their village, to grottoes tucked behind overgrown ruins, into the depths of the sea under their home ─ all before evening. And it's there that she'd stay until stars speckled the sky and her sisters came looking for her.

The alchemist, Edana, taught her the uses of each plant. Antibacterial resins, anesthetic tinctures, herbal honeys to ease aches and anxiety. She learned which aromas could soothe rooms of stressed scholars and which ones kept them alert in the small hours of the night. It was fascinating. But not as much as the rotating cast of mages and warriors that lounged about Edana's workspace like it was their home.

They weren't shy about being from a mercenary guild ─ or so they called themselves ─ training so they might take their talents to clans in need of extra fighters. Or extra security, or company, or maybe muscle to help with some landscaping.

She lost herself in their stories while sorting sprigs of cindermint. Her mind would paint pictures of daring battles on dusty plains, backlit by sharp cracks of lightning, thunder sounding like a war drum. She'd imagine waking in the Starfall Isles and slipping off to go study those aether cherries she'd heard of.

A spiral mage wrapped around the rafters was the first to suggest, "just join the guild."

Eminaire clarified: she had no combat training, and she was not an alchemist, just helping one.

"So?" The they replied. "The only way to get training is by training, right?"

It sounded deceptively simple.

A single phrase that stuck with her until the next morning when she found herself gliding past the gardens, sight set on the guild hall.

notes.
› Has a comprehensive knowledge of Sunbeam Ruins flora
› Actively trying to achieve that for other regions...
› ...to the detriment of her combat training
› Actually not great at alchemy
› If you want her to brew anything, ask for a cup of tea
