Biography

Once upon a time, there was a Queen.

She was the eldest of her name, and therefore set to rule the wide expanse of her familial kingdom. For as long as any could remember, her bloodline wore the crown. They held tight to their position as the ruling family of ancient lands - and equally ancient treasures - in any way necessary; law, magic, and blade all seemed natural ways to keep the crown, and were often used simultaneously and liberally. Such as it was, and always would be.

This queen's methods of leadership were no different than those of her hallowed ancestors, and as far as the people of her kingdom were concerned, this was just fine. They were allowed to flourish under the royal family's vicious possessiveness, protected from outside forces by a vast and mighty army wielded by a bloodthirsty and bullhearted crown. There were enemies, certainly, but they were in no way powerful enough to pose much of a threat to the kingdom, as none could ever match the vengeful strength of the family and its forces.

And so the borders were safe, and the riches allowed to multiply.

Heirs were always needed, however, and to that effect, the queen set out to find a source of strong, new genetics to add to her line. The mate she chose to hold the honorary title of king was passive, soft-spoken, and without significant holdings of his own - in other words, the very opposite of a threat to the family's rule. He was an agreeable companion, and quite handsome. Their offspring would be lovely and true to the blood of the crown.

This pairing was approved and her crown secured. All was right in the land.

THE SECOND GENERATION_____________________________________

In time, the queen and her chosen king would have three children. The eldest, a son; the middle child, a daughter; and their youngest - another son. The first son was conniving, but not entirely clever; the daughter was clever, but oftentimes a little clumsy; and the youngest child was so often overlooked that he learned how to do as he pleased and get away with it all. The eldest son and the daughter wanted the crown badly, and their competitiveness knew no bounds - from one year to the next, their rivalry only grew, until one day, the two of them vanished.

No one was quite sure what exactly happened, though there were rumors; fratricide, exile, and assassination were, as always, the most popular, but the royal family never breathed a word about what might have happened and the rumors were destined to be forever just that - baseless rumors. All that is known was that the younger brother, whose quiet slyness evolved into something much more sinister and controlling the day he took the crown, was undoubtedly part of his siblings' disappearance. His mother the queen remained always quite fond of him, and never once mourned the loss of her eldest children; if they weren't strong enough or smart enough to survive the family, then they weren't fit to rule.

The young king was a sinister creature, but his methods were effective. The kingdom will thrive in his silvery grasp, no matter what; those were his beliefs, and he made them well known through a series of political disappearances and border changes. And his chosen partner...

She was demure, relenting, soft-spoken - but undeniably intelligent, with just a touch of self-serving malice. It was better for her to be underestimated by the court, to act as a shadow in their chambers, always listening and occasionally reporting to her husband - when it suited her to do so.

THE THIRD GENERATION_____________________________________

To this royal pair, four children were born. Not much could be said about the eldest two, who managed to become quite spoiled on their parents' names alone; the youngest vanished early, though to where remains a mystery. Their third child, however, showed promise. Whereas the eldest two were shipped off quickly to smaller holdings where they could pretend they had the seat of power, this third child showed his potential as heir to the true kingdom early in his youth.

He possessed both the quiet, disarming nature of his mother and the wicked drive for power that ran so strongly through his paternal lineage. Though the borders did not grow quite so much under his reign as they did within his father's time, they were considered exceptionally impassable; his focus was turned within, strengthening and refining all he already had and building a ruthless border patrol to keep it all safely contained.

He was famously uninterested in interpersonal relationships, however, and to that end, his chosen queen was not someone he held much interest in nor ever knew particularly well. Sure, she was competent, clever, and strong, but together, they met very scarcely; and, to that end, they had only one child. An inevitable heir, a daughter who would have to do.

THE FOURTH GENERATION_____________________________________

She was vicious. She was unyielding. And she had a chip on her shoulder that could never be repaired. Ignored by her father, tolerated by her mother, and judged critically by the courts, the heir was molded into a poisonous, vindictive beast who exercised her power often and with great pleasure. No one would cross her, or underestimate her, or look down on her ever again, not so long as she lived as Queen to one of the most well-established and powerful kingdoms in the land. She lashed out often at smaller neighboring holds, growing an army drunk off her extreme power and constant success - an unconquerable force, out conquering other said unconquerable forces out of sheer spite alone. Terror followed her whispered name, her reputation as a supernatural creature of war growing with each little kingdom that fell to flames underneath her wild glare.
