⌈ VAATI ⌋ The Last Who Remembers Ancient• Crumbling• Lost ━━━━ MATERIALS ━━━━ |
What started as a curse, no more would it make the unfortunate suffer. A crack in a pearl, the first signs of stone flesh. One such healer knew not how to prevent, but had seen enough to understand and tell. From what little was given, a tale of the fearless that stood watch and guarded. A tradition was born, of three to watch each point of camp whilst their families slept. A thankless job these three took hold, as overtime the curse was forgotten -- nobody knew the statues were living beneath crumbling stone. None but one, the very same healer that saw all the others. In her want of power, damnation met the children of light. Their fates locked in the stone binding their flesh. Lies, and mystery. Will they ever see the dawn of day? Will anyone ever know of their fates? Would the truth finally be told to those who walked the day... who felt the sun on their hide and walked in its light? A promise was made to the young blood coloured gargoyle, an older Pearlcatcher of quartz making had taken her beneath his wing. He had promised she would be okay. The pearlcatcher, Marble, had lied to her. Not that she would know until years after the promise reached her ears. His name would stay with Vaati until she too would follow in his steps. His waking form showed cracks, pieces of his being had turned to rubble and the effects only worsened as each dawn fell. Vaati would ask what was wrong, but no answer would be given. Marble would misdirect her, offer other words. But when the time came that his leg had caved in during the day -- he sat her down and told him what his predecessors had told him. This was not a job. This was not a blessing, and this was not something that could be fixed. This -- this Stone Hide Curse -- it was a death trap made by the mad. | xxxxx |
