★★★ But this was there life now, and for the most part, it was enjoyed. Until it wasn't. As time went on, life became stagnate and stale -- Pearl was growing restless and found herself wanting more. Meanwhile her mate was settling into his role of his clan's new life rather well. She couldn't understand how he didn't find issue in how peaceful the world was becoming. Without war, her job as a healer was degraded to nothing more than fixing scratches. Which she left to her second to deal with on most days. Velara needed the practice, and frankly, Pearl had better things to do then waste her talent on such measily matters. Where Virtuoso kept himself busy between taking patrols, watching the hatchlings, and seeing where he could lend a claw -- Pearl started to question. She always had a passion for knowledge and wild magics --and she was once told she was far too curious for her own good. But how was that an issue? Pearl was finding herself putting her nose where it did not belong; and it started with the curse she placed on select Pearlcatchers and somehow convinced everyone that it was a blessing. When everything fell to light, it was when Pearl had dug herself far too deep into the unknown -- so deep she couldn't turn back. Her eyes took on the arcanist's colour, and a halo etched into her forehead as her claws glowed in strength. Virt could only watch as each day, the mind of his dearest love slowly and quickly went astray. It was when Pearl had yet to venture from her den for days that the imperial went in search for her. He had been quiet on her sudden switch in character for far too long, and his concern steadily increased as the den was empty of his mate. Her second stood in her place, a mirror at her side, but their conversation a blur as the large dragon leapt into flight. He never saw her leave the den. But no trace of her could be found from his vantage point in the sky -- their camp was large to hold their numbers, and partially hidden by the thick brambles. But Pearl was not a dragon to blend in the crowd, and Virtuoso had never failed to find her before. But where was she... and why was a sinking dread building in the pit of his stomach... could something of- WORK IN PROGRESS | xxxxxxxxxxxx |
