NOISETTE
Runaway Princess
Adventurous | Regretful | Idealistic

╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮

There's no undo
and there's no repeat

╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯

Once upon a time, you were the crown.

From birth, your pale plumage was a worrying omen. It lent you such a prettily demure and delicate color, but also a dangerously unhealthy body (or so it was said). Even so, you were the elder prized pearl, handled carefully in fear of being shattered at the slightest jostle. You were pampered to the fullest, smothered by fussy maids. You were subject to introductions upon introductions to top doctors, researchers, and even suitors.

Of course, it was not a factor in your academic rigor. It was your duty to be a perfect leader, despite lamentable illness. So, you did it. Moments for you to rest in private were few and far between, but you did it. Yes, when you came of age, everybody agreed that even if not physically, you were completely mentally, emotionally, and socially equipped to become a truly majestic leader.

Yes, they'd agreed on that. But omens are not so easily ignored. The day the date of your coronation was decided on, you died.

They found the body in the rose garden, with the most dreadful...oh, deities, had it not been for the pendant, they would never have been able to identify it; it was extremely lucky that it'd avoided damage from whatever horrible object had so awfully torn open your throat. It was a cruel, perfect, and unexplainable crime. Repeated investigation revealed nothing. Defeated, the nation mourned for 30 consecutive days and nights.

On the 31st day after your death, the body, now safely buried deep beneath the earth, dissolved and shuffled back into a deck of cards and returned to the surface.

"There they are!" the sorceress had cheerfully smiled as the cards pulled back into orbit around her. "What will you do now, dear missus crown princess?" Your nose had crinkled at the title. "Don't call me that. That’s no longer who I am. I...I'll travel, I suppose, see the world that I wasn't allowed to see before." The sorceress had smirked at your words, perhaps her snide way of wishing you luck. You'd have to be careful. You were one of the land's prized jewels, after all. You'd have to travel far, and forever disguised.

You knew this entire ordeal was selfish. But you know, you'd realized something. You were just a doll. You were something to be fawned over, protected. Something to be put on display. You could never do something for yourself without being heavily regulated, without all eyes in the vicinity scrutinizing your every move. You were a rose being strangled by its own thorns.

Your single regret was her. You knew your dear morning glory would miss you terribly, and you knew you'd miss her exactly as much. You understood that she would probably never forgive you if she ever found out. But you knew she could handle the crown, you knew how she secretly (and innocently!) wanted to have it. Besides, she deserved it so much more than you ever would. She'd always been the better student, frankly. You only wish you could have told her how sorry you are, how proud of her you are, and how much you love her, just one last time.

Once upon a time, you were the crown. But now, you are free.

"Hmm...this one is a troubled child. I understand her circumstances, and she's wonderfully sweet, but I can't imagine the heartache on the other end. That said, my policy is open home--no judgement."
