"Youth is eternal to those with a curious, loving, joyous spirit." ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯ Ever since he hatched, Carneros has always been a bright and joyous soul, finding beauty even in the ashen wasteland of his home. Unlike most dragons, when Carneros hatched, there were no warm smiles from his parents. In fact, there were no parents waiting for him at all after he emerged from his egg. Even though he found himself alone in the world from the very beginning, Carneros kept moving along, doing his best on his own in the world of ash that he had found himself in. Through his travels, interrupted mostly by either eating, sleeping, or chasing a neat-looking animal, Carneros came across a wandering trader who asked if he was interested in trying out a product for the dragon. The trader had recently bought a supply of what was supposed to grant "eternal youth", but he was not willing to test the product himself to see if it worked. With the promise of a friend to join him on his travels, Carneros tried the product. After seeing no immediate results, the trader deemed it a fake, leaving Carneros alone again with an empty vial and a new familiar to call his friend. After spending half a year in the world and not aging a day, he had not seemed to age at all, although the young hatchling did not seem to mind or realize why that was the case. It was not until he was picked up by an expedition force from Dannamore that he found anything wrong with him. Straya, the resident mage, picked up extraordinary magical traces from his body, even if he himself had very little capacity for casting magic. She decided to study him further to find the root of his condition and find out the identity of the dragon who sold the potion to him all that time ago, for it was very unlikely that the "wandering trader" was truly who he said he was. Now determined that she was to study him, Straya made arrangements with Heket and Gaia, who adopted Carneros, and Zuriel, who would look after him while he stayed with the guild. |
