Biography

JOKULL - Tanner

Rambra Horn Elk Chimera Pelt

For all of the Southern Icefield's dangers, there still places that burst with life, thriving in spite of the odds. The Snowsquall Tundra is one of these places, should you know where to look, how to spot the cautious game and the hardy predators, where the clans caucus for seasonal swap meets. And Jokull loves it with his entire heart.

Sure, there are some clans that seem to regard him with some degree of caution, insisting that he sell his wares farther from the core of the trading post, but that is merely a consequence of his occupation. Tanning, after all, produces rather fetid odors, all one after another, and even the final product can be somewhat off-putting before use and care gives it a more pleasant scent.

Of course, he wouldn't trade his profession for the world. With time and patience, he has become a skilled tanner, and he takes pride in his approach. All of the beasts which provide the hides he cures are caught by his own claw rather than purchased, and he takes the utmost care to dry and properly trim the hides.

He is also one of the few dealers of chimera pelts, a tanner of rare skill. So few can keep chimera pelts from falling to pieces, especially in the bitter cold of the Icefields, and Jokull stays in business from these alone. He may not receive the most foot traffic when pop-up markets are raised, but word of mouth is a powerful thing, and chimera pelts are exceptionally warm.

So is chimera blood, not that he trades in the substance. But there is something that soothes the primal beast when he slays a chimera, something that feels relief at the taste of burning blood sliding down his tongue. He is not so savage as to admit it in polite company, knowing full well that no one is especially keen to do business with the bloodthirsty, but he would be lying if he didn't wonder what instincts have made him so comfortable with blood and the kill.
