Tourmaline

With her daring, inquisitive spirit, dragons who knew Tourmaline as a child would claim that they always knew she would grow up to elope. Having been betrothed to a male she did not care for, she ran away with an archaeological expedition without as much as a word to her parents or intended mate. Well within their midsts, though, she found a passion for the craft, dedicating her sharp, quick eyes to exploration. Even so, she was only barely able to notice the form of a dragon, collapsed and half buried in the snow, before it was too late.

Nursing the male, Vermeil, back to health, she could not stop herself from caring about him. Of course, she would claim that no one dragon could look at him and not care.

Knowing that, should she return with the rest of her group, she would be separated from her work and from her love both, she determined to make a home for Vermeil and herself within the mountains and its riches. Although she will not admit it to anyone, she wept with nerves when she asked him to stay with her.
