Intricate Weaving
Eseese is special…and unfortunately he knows it. Though none of Zelena’s hatchlings can quite recall exactly where they came from, Eseese just knows that he came from a fine pedigree. Nobility, at the least. Royalty, even! He’s absolutely the most important of Zelena’s hatchlings, and everyone else should treat him as such, and do whatever he says!

Needless to say, Eseese is not the kindest of Zelena’s hatchlings, nor the most well-liked. Snooty and spoiled, he treats pretty much everyone else as if they’re lesser than him. The rest of the hatchlings mostly roll their eyes and ignore him, but unfortunately Zelena tends to reinforce his beliefs when she calls him her little prince, and dotes on him. She doesn't mean to condone his behavior, she just finds him so endearing that she plays along with his demands, which only makes him more certain that he’s royalty.

And in his defense, Eseese’s claims aren’t completely baseless. He was found by Zelena wrapped in a silk cloak, embroidered with gold thread. He holds this cloak as proof of his noble blood, as the materials and craftsmanship are far finer than any a normal dragon might own. Eseese keeps the cloak with him at all times, carrying it around as a banner…or a security blanket, the other hatchlings snicker under their breath.

Eseese isn’t stupid, he’s well aware that the others don’t like him much, and deep down he’s kind of hurt by it. The problem is his pride keeps telling him that everyone should feel lucky to be his friend, and that they should all just automatically like him because he’s so special. But they don’t, and it frustrates him because he doesn’t know how to make them like him without suffering a blow to his pride, which he cannot tolerate. So he simply bosses everyone around, makes sure they know exactly how much better than the rest of them he is, and takes solace in that.

He has a bit of a one-sided rivalry with Chai. Chai is also likely descended from nobility or royalty, but unlike Eseese, he’s very humble and kind, and therefore is much more popular with the rest of the hatchlings. Eseese can’t stand that Chai treats everyone else like they’re equals, as he feels like Chai is degrading himself. Eseese swings back and forth between wanting to finally prove that Chai isn’t from noble beginnings either, so that he can finally feel confident in his superiority, and desperately wishing that Chai would finally start acting in a way befitting his station, so that Eseese might have a real friend for once.

For all his haughty attitude and bluster, deep down, Eseese is very lonely. He basically only has one person who likes him, and that’s Zelena. And she likes everyone, so that doesn’t really count.

Someday, Eseese may learn to swallow his pride and try to be a bit nicer, so that he can finally be accepted and welcomed by the other hatchlings. But it’s probably not going to be any time soon.
