Biography
Formally known as Hyrdostrike, after resembling that of lighting and water. Hydrostrike was trained by none other than the Saver of Secrets. Now her successor, he guides the clan in ways of the arcane and divine.
He is officially dubbed with the title that the Original Saver of Secrets held, as no one alive today remembers her true name. Soon Hydro's name will be lost to time, too, within the clan. And it is now safer for him to use his mystic title of The Saver of Secrets.
---
A young wildclaw made his way quickly toward the cave that housed the Saver of Secrets. He was summoned by his master, who was growing weaker and weaker by the day. He had done everything he could in order to remedy her condition, but they both fear that time was now claiming back what the Saver of Secrets has borrowed.
Her breathing was labored, but her eyes acknowledged him as he passed through the waterfall. "Hydro--"
"Yes, mentor?"
"I fear I don't have much longer..." She breathed, her voice straining from any pains she was experiencing. "There is one last ritual you need to complete, young one."
"Of course. Tell me what I need to do."
The Saver of Secrets sat up with a slow struggle, revealing their pearl that lay beneath them. It was large, filled with hundreds of years of memories and knowledge. "I'm sure you know the importance of the pearl for us pearlcatchers..."
"Yes, they hold your memories." Hydro replied.
"Indeed they do. Could you draw a transferment circle for me, Hydro?"
He did as he was told. Speaking as he etched the figure into the dirt. "What is your plan, Secret?"
"I'm going to transfer the rest of my hidden knowledge into my pearl. And then bind my soul to you so you may access its memories."
Hydro thought for a moment. "So in short, you're doing a possesion ritual?"
The Secret Saver's chuckle was old, raspy, and slightly ominous. "You know me all too well, Hydro. Yes. Although I'd like to think of me as more of a guardian for you...and the pearl of course. There's knowledge in there that most of the world has forgotten, and if something were to happen to that knowledge...well...you understand."
Hydro nodded, completing the magic circle.
"One day, you too will grow old and choose a successor. I shall rely on you to do this same ritual and bind me to your apprentice, so that the pearl and I may be passed down for generations to come.
I made a promise to the Gods ages ago that I would protect this land. But even nature and magic can do so much for these old bones. My cells are dying and reaching their limits of this plane."
"When this is done, will the Gods talk to me?"
Secretsaver smiled. "Perhaps they will welcome you, but they haven't talked to me in some time now."
Smoke began to billow out of the ancient pearlcatcher's nostrils. She opened her mouth, only for more smoke to exit from there too. It grew thicker and crawled toward the pearl, surrounding it. Secret's eyes glowed with the last of her power, as she etched all of her knowledge into the pearl.
Hydro concentrated as he watched the scene unfold, for he knew he'll have to do the very same in the distant future.
The mist-like smoke stayed confined to the pearl, which seemed to slowly grow as the magic seeped into it. Eventually the thickness of it waned, yet Secretsaver's glowing eyes remained.
She looked eerie. It sent shivers down Hydro's spine when she turned her head to meet his gaze. He felt like she could see into his soul. Heck, she probably could.
The saver of secrets stood, drawing a simple circle around Hydro and then a thin connecting line to the intricate spell circle of which she herself stood inside.
She unraveled her old wings, stretching them out one last time and flapped them once. Hydro dared not to blink now.
Her mouth opened and an ancient tongue rattled off a phrase, but her lips did not move. A wall of light shot out from the circle and encompassed her. She levitated off of the ground without the use of flight.
Hydrostrike could only stare up at the events in awe.
Her glowing eyes stared down at him once more, and she smiled. "I can hear them, Hydro. They're giving me their blessing."
Hydrostrike nodded, smiling back up at her with tears in his eyes.
She uttered another phrase in the ancient tongue, and this time Hydro's smaller circle activated, but he did not float or glow. Instead, Electricity flowed out from the Saver of Secrets and into him. His entire body tingled, and then a sharp pain originated from the back of his head. The Saver of Secrets went limp in the air and raced alarmingly fast toward the ground, only to be placed gently on the dirt.
Hydrostrike stayed awake only long enough for his brain to register that the glowing of the magic circles had stopped, and then he quickly passed out.
