Biography
ARTEMUS hunter reserved | fierce | protective |
About Artemus is a former wandering hunter who has decided to settle in Traveler's Rest. A huge and intimidating dragon, he is not as scary as he seems. His many scars are mostly from his encounters with beasts, except for his missing right eye, courtesy of his younger brother. He welcomes the peace of the Rest, often spending his days in the gardens.

Story
Born in the Viridian Labyrinth, Artemus grew up among the lush plant life and ever-present noise of the jungle. His parents left him when he was still young, leaving him to care for the egg that would hatch into his brother, Actaeon. Artemus did his best to raise Actaeon with the values their parents had imparted to him before they left, but Actaeon was reluctant to accept them. The one thing he did learn, however, was how to hunt, and he quickly surpassed his older brother in that aspect. Artemus was left chasing the young dragon as he ran after the largest prey, with no respect for the delicate balance of nature. As Actaeon grew, he and Artemus fought more and more. Actaeon wanted to use his talents to garner fame and fortune, while Artemus was content to stay in the forest clearing where they grew up. Eventually, Actaeon had enough, and ran away from home. Artemus was devastated, and could no longer bear to look at the clearing without his brother, and so he left too.
After leaving the Viridian Labyrinth, Artemus wandered Sornieth for years. He drifted from place to place, learning each flight's territory and wildlife, until he knew each like the back of his talon. The few clans he visited praised him for his hunting skill, and he began offering his services to them. He took out everything from Pohips to an Emperor, and one day was approached by an Imperial by the name of Hurricane. She had been wandering, like him, and asked if she could join him. Artemus was surprised, but accepted her offer. The two traveled together for a while, and when the time came for them to part ways, Hurricane told Artemus that he would be welcome at Traveler's Rest if he should choose to head their way.
However, Artemus did not take up this offer immediately. He kept traveling on his own, though shortly after parting with Hurricane he was joined by Orion after he rescued the Raptorik from an attack on his clan's roost. It was also during this time he met a young Pearlcatcher by the name of Eva. She tagged along with him, curious about everything, her cheerfulness softening Artemus' hard exterior. At an inn in the Tangled Wood, they heard a disturbing rumor: a bounty hunter was stalking the woods, searching for a cream-colored Pearlcatcher. He had come in the other day and threatened the innkeeper, ordering him to tell the hunter if anyone matching that description came through. Artemus instantly knew who the hunter was: his wayward younger brother, Actaeon. He told Eva to get away and went off to find Actaeon. The trail led to a clearing not unlike the one where the brothers had grown up. Actaeon was waiting, and the brothers fought. Artemus managed to kill his brother, but not before Actaeon clawed out Artemus' right eye.
The older brother buried the younger's body, along with the spear that killed him, and finally turned to Traveler's Rest. Upon arriving at the city, he was immediately taken into medical care, his wounds so severe that the Rest's few doctors worried that they wouldn't be able to save him. Luckily they were able to, and Artemus decided to stay in the city. He became a familiar sight around the city, often in the company of Eva and Orion, and he is well respected by the citizens.
