Biography
"We survived the Gaolers. I think I can handle one lonely threat."
Songcaller | Warrior
The last eggs of the Banescale brood hatched in the heat of the magma that swelled over them. But one egg lay still, as though the heat had no effect on it. The rest of the hatched dragons watched worriedly. In their chittering hums, they fussed over it, knocking it, tapping it, rolling it over on its side, but the egg lay, unresponsive. The worry grew, as they realized that whoever lay within the egg, could have been long gone. A murmured agreement rose within the dragons, that perhaps whoever was within, was a lost cause.
The eldest of the clutch, shook her head in disbelief, and made a rolling motion with her wings. Continue, she seemed to say, but the rest of the brood disagreed with her, flaring their own wings up at her, and screeched, and gestured violently to the frozen form of the elders who died protecting them. Can't you see? Whoever is in the egg, has long passed!
Indignant, the one closest to the egg shoved it, and watched it tumble into a crater, which had been turned into a rock pool, which was boiling, to prove his point.
A high screech filled the air, and an eerie silence fell over the hatchlings. Had they just killed another? The eldest Banescale toddled over, faster than any of her siblings, to the boiling rock pool. Steam rose furiously at the disturbance, after an Age of calm. She flapped her wings furiously, and when she thinned the vapor, she saw what lay within.
Eggshells spread unceremoniously in the crater, and within the shells, lay a bright blue Banescale, much like the rest of the clutch. The boiling water of the crater had rejuvenated her from her icy rest, giving her the strength to finally hatch.
"Sister." croaked the eldest, reaching out for her new youngest member of the family.
