Skartava has always had a bright mind since she was young and a colourful outlook on the future. She wanted to do great things right from the start and prove herself in the eyes of her adopted clan, even though, as far as they were concerned, she had already earned her place. Love and adoration are things that Skartava craves, though she does have the hardworking attitude to try to earn it rather than expect it. However, there's also a certain edge to her, a lingering darkness—perhaps from the mysterious time she spent abandoned in the Charged Barrens before the Starbound Clan rescued her. Either way, Skartava can sometimes make questionable decisions with a "the ends justify the means" mindset, which has made others a bit weary of her.

B I O G R A P H Y

The third and final member of the Dreamshine Cult, Skartava is considered the weak link between her two other fellow cultists. She is unaware of this, however, and is merely happy to be included in the cult's teachings. She harbours great admiration and love for the Arcanist, so much so that one might call her obsessed. She doesn't consider it an obsession; it's all merely part of her faith. While she was hatched as little more than an abandoned fledgling, this secluded Arcane clan took her into its welcoming arms after she was discovered cold and alone without a single caregiver in sight. While she never knew her real parents, she holds no ill will toward them.

Skartava's adoration for the Arcanist began during her first few days within the Starbound Clan. The very night she was found and rescued along the craggy shores of the Starfall Isles, the clan held a celebration in the name of their god. Skartava looked on in awe as they sang thanks to the Arcanist for blessing them with yet another new member of their clan. A meteor shower graced the skies that night and ever since then, Skartava has been convinced that it was the Arcanist himself welcoming the Lightning flight hatchling into his heart. The rest of her clan humoured her, though she heard them chuckling adoringly about it when they thought she was elsewhere. She didn't let that bother her, though.

Instead, Skartava made it her goal to meet the Arcanist in person and ask the deity himself if he had reached out to the clan that night. Her dreams often feature the ethereal silhouette of the Arcanist, a backdrop of brightly shining stars framing him. Sometimes, though, in her nightmares, war breaks out between the Arcanist and the other deities, who surge forth from mirages of their elements to attack the Observatory. Skartava doesn't think anything of it and simply shakes off those nightmares when she wakes up. They're just dreams, after all. They don't mean anything. The only dreams that hold any significance are those of oracles and, the last time she checked, she hasn't predicted any important future events. In fact, her predictions are often laughably wrong.

In spite of her optimistic disposition, Skartava is a practitioner of vodou. Well, she shouldn't say "in spite of". She'll have you know vodou is a very misunderstood form of magic and she can do just as much good with black magic as evil. Not that she has ever had any evil intent, but that's besides the point. As it were, Skartava does use black magic on a regular basis. Her power comes from the darkness and increases at night when the moon is at its fullest. As its silver beams grace the Starfall Isles and cause the starblossoms to bloom, so does Skartava's power bloom in synchrony.

The presence of the sun does nothing to diminish her power. Since her main source of power is the moon itself, the more exposed she is to its light, the more powerful she becomes. Skartava uses black magic for the overall protection of her clan. One of the first things she did after mastering some of the more basic spells was cast a protection charm across the floating isles in which her clan resides. She didn't know at the time, of course, that that spell is as volatile as it is protective.

Any who wander too close the boundary she set for the charm will find themselves engulfed by a sudden, intense migraine. Until they leave the boundary of the charm, the pain will not subside, unless, of course, Skartava exempts them from its effects. She keeps a close eye on the boundary at all times, recasting her spell when needed and removing it altogether if she knows the clan will have visitors. It can be quite taxing, but it is for the betterment of her home's safety. What the clan doesn't know won't hurt them.

At least, she doesn't intend for it to hurt them. Skartava's magic has been known to go awry from time to time, but as of yet, she hasn't caused any major injuries. She has, however, incurred a notable amount of fear from her fellow clanmates because of those mishaps. It saddens her when her own family avoids her or gives her strange looks, but she knows she brought it on herself. All the same, she will continue to do everything in her power to protect them. It's what the Arcanist would want and she would do anything for the Arcanist.
