Horus was an Alchemist. He liked putting things together and making it all work. Sure it involved a lot of math and a bit of innovative thinking but he loved it.

Helping others with it was great too. Horus was a modest soul and he just enjoyed getting to make all the Alchemy come together so beautifully and managing to help a dragon in the process was a bonus. Socializing wasn't his think, all he needed was his cauldron and nothing else.

Horus hadn't found a Clan willing to put up with his intense focus on his craft and his Alchemy experiments since they tended to have...exciting results ranging from explosions to changing scale color to enchanting apparel (he'd actually gotten his hood that way- his very first successful experiment). They called him impulsive for not following the recipes other dragons had found- the safe recipes- he supposed they were right in some ways, but he wasn't planning on changing for anyone and the Clan he had now was fine with that (so long as he left a sign up when he was experimenting anyway)
