Keironu

Lore (This story takes place in early 2020) Inside a lab, a dragon was waiting. No one knew where she had come from, for she appeared to have no bloodline. The dragon herself was a normal-looking Banescale, but when the scientists found her they requested she go with them, claiming they could tell her who she was. "Keironu?" a voice called. The dragon looked up, her wings shaking slightly. "We're ready to begin." With a small nod, the dragon rose from the bench she was sitting on. She followed the other dragon back into the main laboratory. There were three dragons already inside, each wearing their signature white lab coat. Two of them were bickering in hushed whispers but fell silent when she stepped inside. One of the scientists stepped forward with a smile to greet the dragon. "Keironu! We're so glad you decided to join us!" A second scientist, the one he had been arguing with, sighed in defeat.

Keironu looked at the room awkwardly as the first scientist thanked his assistant before she and the other scientists left.
"So!" the scientist clapped his hands together. "Are you ready to start?" he asked. Keironu hesitated for a second. Was she really ready to become a science experiment?
Unfortunately, she convinced herself this was the right thing to do. She nodded her head. "Excellent! Step this way please!" the scientist moved towards a large machine.
Keironu followed him warily. "This is my amazing invention!" he smiled. "All you have to do is step inside and using the incredible power of science we will know where you come from!"
She nodded. "Okay. When do we start?" Kei asked. "Why, right now of course! When would be a better time?" he laughed.
With another nod, she stepped to the entrance of the machine. The scientist opened the door for her and she entered the machine.
He then moved towards the control panel. "Ready?" he called. "If I wait until I'm ready, we'll be waiting for the rest of my life," she called back.
He smiled and pulled a lever.
The machine whirred to life, electricity spiking around the entire thing.
But that's where it went wrong.
The machine was now shaking, electricity sticking the rest of the lab.
"What's happening?!" Kei yelped as the laboratory was torn apart.
Machines we're being activated left and right as electricity spread through the entire room.
Through the thick glass in the door of the machine, she could see the second and third scientists running into the room.
By now the entire building was shaking. She pounded on the door, trying to get the attention of the first scientist who was furiously pushing buttons on the control panel.
"Turn it off! Let me out!" she yelled but it was no use.
The three scientists were now shouting and fighting with the control panel, and the machine she was stuck in was smoking now.
Kei backed up, claustrophobia and anxiety filling her chest. Keironu screamed as she crumpled to the ground, but no sound came out.
The last thing she could remember was the explosion and the terrible silence that followed.

Kei woke up on a stretcher, dragons shouting around her. She looked to her left and saw the lab in flames before she passed out again from the pain.

When Keironu woke again, she was in a hospital bed. She groaned, unable to move. "Shh.." a dragon in a nurse's uniform whispered, moving to her side. "W-what happened?" Kei asked.
"You were in an... Accident" the dragon told her. Suddenly the memories of the lab came crashing back to her. "Oh... I remember now" Kei sighed.
The dragon nodded. "Most of your scales were destroyed." she looked at Kei who gave her a small nod to go on.
"The doctors replaced your scales with custom metal plates. It's going to hurt for a while but... Eventually, you'll be good as new," the nurse gave her a warm but pitying smile as Kei looked down. "There's something else too." She looked up again.
"The electricity from the blast has... Supercharged you." Kei tilted her head.
"There's electricity circulating through your body, that's what's keeping you alive. One day you might even be able to use that electricity as a superpower." She could tell the nurse was just trying to cheer her up. "Now, you should get some more sleep, Kei." The nurse forced another smile and left as Kei looked up at the ceiling, wondering what would happen to her.
