Bane The Lady's Huntress

The Historians are all dark things inside of Drakengaze. They are pearl thieves and fallen stars, murky killers and neutral warriors. Disloyal and objective and detached, playful and virulent and experimental. They all get along with the Alchemist just fine, and he was the one who found the second Banescale egg that would hatch within Drakengaze in the time of Gatlefain's emerging magic. Bane was born in a gathering of murky morality, and her eyes opened the shadow's light violet when she was hatched. She, however, was not bathed in magic or blessed with kindness or joy at her birth. No, she was born to the minds who were curious and unfeeling. They named her for her breed alone and they collectively studied her for the first months of her life, indeed keeping her a secret from the rest of the lair as they were being engulfed by the runes of their growing Queen. She was perhaps lucky that the strange magic of the Queen prevented the historians from dissecting her for their studies, and luckier yet when she found her song.

Bane is a cold creature, and her voice is low and long and deep. She has an unusual keynote that hypnotizes any that hear her warbling chirp, only her Queen and children of the Flamecaller immune to it's striking embrace. She was not immune to Gatlefain's charms when she was discovered, her teeth at the throat of her 'father' and a bite so nearly delivered. The first visitors from the upper levels of the Lair since Bane was hatched, a furious Banescale male in tow and a singing youth no older than herself at the front of the pale glowing Lady.

When the long abused fledgling realized that the fury of these visitors was not directed at herself her unusual song had ceased and her aggression had dispersed, loyalty easily shifting to the Lady and her Lair. It was perhaps the only occasion any of the Clan would see Gatlefain in a fury, her wings sprawled open wide as flame poured unkindly from her maw, bathing the dungeon and all of its tools in her disdain and magic when she discovered how the young Banescale had been hidden for their 'experimentation".

Brought into the Lair Bane was quick to integrate, and showed an immediate affinity for hunting and scavenging. Though she never strays far or long from the Lady, she does enjoy wandering from the Lair and collecting things. With a sharp eye and an unparalleled skill in flight and combat, she studies the outside world with as much fervor and result as Tanla mastered magic, an invaluable Master of Sorneith's wilderness and fields.
