Biography

Valoring is sibling to Aettel, twin progeny of Vashinide and Arconiste. Yet, how can this be true? By all accounts, Aettel is connected properly to the elder Banescales by genetic fabric, formed amidst a terrible storm whose wicked lashes of Lightning surged and, for a time, overwhelmed the lair's natural Shadow energies. Of Valoring, meanwhile, it is said that Their egg, forged of pure Light, simply appeared one day in Their mothers' nest. Almost as if retched out of the gaping maw of Voidlight Valley, which just as easily can swallow dragons whole within moments. But Vashinide insists that Valoring is just as much Her flesh and being as Aettel. Is this simply a matter of a Goddess preserving Her own pride? Or does some strange truth lie between these words? Their genuine power is something else to which appropriate weight must be given. Valoring holds the kind of innate, intense magic that only one of divine lineage can stake claim to. In a blink of Their little eyes, bones can be mended, wounds closed, scars eased back into the smoothness of a dragon's skin. And just as with every other Divinity, each miracle worked seems to both vex and please the Valley, causing its fabric to twist and seize and leap up and plunge down. Their Mothers have forbidden the use of Their power save to retrieve dying souls from the brink. It seems the Gods must carefully balance Their might against the fragile weave of this world -- even ones so small as little Valoring here. After all, divine power is so much more than the grand, dramatic strides They take to reshape the world around Them. Simply by existing, They exert a subtle, yet all-permeating influence over all They touch. Some dragons have said they felt a little stronger, a little less worn from their day's labors ever since Valoring took shape in the Valley. Others claim they once looked into the little Godling's eyes and felt pain leach out of their body or their heart. Even the weary warriors of the Valley, forms sagging after days on end of fending off malicious remnants of the Void's malice, wonder to themselves if Their influence repairs their will to battle on each time it flags. Who can say... who can say? The Godling Themself, for Their part, seems blithely unaware of the apparent far reaches of Their power. In fact, any questioning on the subject tends to lead to Them shrugging Their shoulders and claiming They're not that special. Any clan has any number of healers, right? "I'm not that much different from Cevaya," They'd say, nodding to the Coatl as she passes by and, in hearing such a thing, arches her eyebrow to the heights of her disbelief. They truly seem to have little grasp on the concept of Divinity as a whole, no matter how patiently Vashinide tries to explain the legacy They bear. They're daydreaming, instead, of being a Maren twisting around in the Sea of a Thousand Currents' great undertow. Or perhaps, of being a magnificent harpy, bedazzled in all the world's richest pigments as They soar on the wind's waves. Anything and everything, it seems, is fair game for Their fanciful visions -- anything at all except what They are. What Arconiste has noticed, and what She can't yet manage to break to Her wife, is that there is some kind of profound unhappiness deep inside Valoring. Some kind of gnawing rift that, for all the power They hold, They could not make whole again. What is this wrongness that has seeped so deeply into Their heart...?
