"I was... hurt. Angered. I took it out on your and yours, though you had done nothing to wrong me. Yet you saved my life, and tended my wounds. Thank you."
- Ashmarr to Zaia, following The Reminder

Ashmarr and her mate, Tyar, swept in like a storm, full of anger and hurt after being denied a place in their ancestral lands of the Ashfall Waste. Having heard of the Wayward Winds' "defection," they took their anger out upon the leaders, Zaia and Maudy, and divided the clan, nearly tearing it in two.

But as tensions came to a head, a terrible storm birthed from the hot ash clouds of the Waste meeting the cooler air over the Sea of a Thousand Currents swept over the Zephyr Steppes, leaving destruction in its wake. In the chaos, Ashmarr was almost left to the mercy of the winds, and would have been lost were it not for Zaia's sturdy frame as the founder snatched her from the air and took her to safety.

In the aftermath, an egg was discovered, which hatched into a young Spiral with scales decorated in the ash clouds and lightning that had brought such destruction, and eyes blessed by the keeper of the land they called home. The dragon was named Zephira, to be raised by the clan as a new leader, and the storm was dubbed The Reminder, for it seemed to be a warning from the gods that the clan had forgotten their purpose.

As the clan adjusts to a new system of leadership once more, Ashmarr has taken a place on the council of eight dragons that assist Zephira in management and decision making. Though her first impressions were rocky and led to doubt from Zaia and Maudy as to her fit for the role, Ashmarr has taken charge of accepting new arrivals into the clan, helping them settle in and guiding them into finding a place and purpose.
