One of the two Banescale picked up by Hraekon and the Soulsearcher, alongside Ultraviolet. Arctura hatched from one of the hidden Banescale eggs, and wandered to the surface of the Ashfall Waste soon after hatching. She came up and immediately met Ultraviolet, and the two hatchlings decided to stick by each other.

Hraekon, captaining the Soulsearcher in Hurricane's absence at the time, had flown the ship out to observe the aftermath of the volcanic eruption that had caused the Banescale eggs to hatch, and to help any dragons endangered by the lava flows. Instead, he found Arctura and Ultraviolet, wandering the lava field quite aways away from where the other hatchlings were emerging. He picked them up, fearing for their safety, and brought them back to the Rest. The rest of the clan were amazed that another ancient breed of dragons had emerged, and welcomed the pair, placing them in the care of Einion. As Arctura and Ultraviolet grew, other Banescale found their way to the Rest from the far-flung places where they had been hiding. Arctura, friendly and outgoing, made friends with them immediately.

As a sizable community of Banescale grew in the Rest, they chose Arctura and Ultraviolet as their leaders. As the two who had been hatched from the hidden eggs, they knew the most about their breed's ancient history, and were direct descendants of the original Banescale, making them good choices for leadership, or at least the heads of their little group.
