The wind is howling outside the caravan, plumes of dust drifting in from the crack in the cloth covering the entrance. You know its out there, watching, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. To any normal person, it may look like just a simple desert, but you know better. The branch leaning against the sand is a trap in wait. The pretty violet flowers are but mere decoys, meant to draw one in for what lays beneath the surface of the sand. The creature lurks, just hoping one may be foolish enough to step foot outside, to pluck a flower, to fall right into its open jaws, but you know better.

It's been nearly a week now, and supplies were running low. All the other travelers with you have already long since gone into the open, tempted by the whispers along the wind. Promises of food, just beyond the sand dunes, promises of water, just beyond the horizon, promises of help, just outside of the caravan. But you know there's no such thing. Plenty have gone out, and you can see the sand shift when they leave.

You are tired. The sand is growing more restless and the branches shift closer to the entrance every day. Perhaps it is worth it? Perhaps you should go out and see what awaits out there. So, you step forward, onto the scorching sand, and make your way to the wood that pokes from the sandy surface. You watch as the wood grows in size, watch as the sun is blocked by a massive figure who leans down, jaws opening to show sharp fangs that close in around you.
