Biography
Dalfryn Senior Incident Reporting Specialist | Employee #57355836 | TCC CYOA 2020 Dalfryn was one of the many, many Spire foundlings. His early years are heavily overshadowed by a loneliness that was only alleviated by his ‘clutchmates’. The guardian and nocturne he was hatched with may not be related to him by blood, but together they faced down the challenge of growing up in with indifferent caretakers and emotionally distant teachers. He had a very hard time comprehending why their teachers would want them to compete against each other. Even back then he could tell that different dragons were good at different things, though he really struggled with being compared to ‘siblings’ who were either more inventive or already developing brilliant leadership skills, both traits very prized among lightning dragons. One of the turning points of his young life, was when he realized that many of the caretakers liked him best. He eventually figured out that it was his naturally chatty and outgoing nature. Essentially, dragons liked dragons that liked them. Also his looks. It’s a shame how much appearance can count in social situations, but that’s how it is sometimes. Once he noticed this, getting people to like him was easy. And Dalfryn wanted very, very much to be liked. |
“He who controls the past controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past."

Not having a mind for invention, Dalfryn got his start in the experimental archives. Records of experiments are the best way of not repeating previous failures, after all. Sifting through the vault of knowledge collected across decades, he was struck by the realization that these documents are some of the only records left behind of the dragons who wrote them. Whether or not the records were true when writing them, they are the only truth left behind. Archiving is laudable profession, but from that point on he wanted to write. He wanted to put his name on as many documents as he could. To control the narrative of whatever record he was tasked with recording. With careful word choice and leading turns of phrase, he could imprint his own perspective onto any document that crossed his desk. He considers moving to incident reporting is the best decision he ever made. In part because he had a lot of fun making friends with nearly all the other dragons in the first few months, putting together a ‘work family’ as he liked to call it. Though, there are still a few holdouts. He still hasn’t figured out why Charhynn dislikes him so much, but he’s sure she’ll come around eventually. But mainly because the job itself was a perfect fit for him. It had enough variety to satisfy his curiosity, and was deliciously interpretory, what with the duty to convert the initial report to the archive record. Plus, he got to read about a lot of really crazy incidents, from the wacky to the terrifying. He settled into the job like it was a warm bath, determined to put his mark on as many incidents as possible. |
