- From a young age, was very starry-eyed and distracted
- This did not fly in his Lightning clan, who took offense to his sleeping all day and stargazing all night
- He claimed he could hear the whispers of the stars, telling him secrets and giving him guidance.
- His clanmates had no patience for this and insisted he do proper work
- No one was surprised or upset when he up and disappeared one day
- The star guided him to the Tangled Wood, where he found a dragon just out of hatchlinghood, barely younger than him, who bore the light of the sun in her scales and feathers
- Though she was standoffish and tried desperately to be a loner, he eventually won her over and the two became close friends in their life of survival
- Eventually, the stars told him to make his way south, to the Windswept Plateau. He listened, and Solaris accompanied him
- During their passage through the Scarred Wasteland, he fell ill and ended up losing his eyesight—but the whispers of the stars became all the clearer
- Finally, they found their way to the Wayward Winds, where he now serves as intermediary for the stars' guidance to the clan
- With his becoming blind, not only has his attunement to the stars become stronger, but he now is able to "see" with his antennae. While other Skydancers—even Nix, who is infamously sensitive—feel emotions and energies in regards to direction and location, Arys gets a sense of vague shapes, enough to determine the breed of a dragon, at least, and colors based on the energies he is reading. It's kinda like a Skydancer synesthesia. Also the whole "when you lose one sense, your others becomes stronger to pick up the slack" sort of thing. Its another sense for Skydancers :)!
