Merro

Name meaning: There are several potential origins of this name.
Galician: topographic name from Mero, a river in Galicia.
Spanish and Catalan: probably a nickname from mero ‘grouper’ (the fish).
Italian: possibly from mero ‘pure’, ‘sheer’ (Latin merus). Theoretically, this could also be a source of the Spanish name, but in any case it is difficult to explain its application.
Hungarian (Méro): occupational name for someone who worked with scales, from méro ‘measure’, ‘measurer’, a noun derivative of mérni ‘to measure’.

Merro came from The Behemoth. She was born mere weeks before the harpy invasion of the Glade, after most of the clan had been relocated to the Behemoth from their old location in the Shrieking Wilds, so she was sent to Haven for her own protection in light of what Gobi's nightmare had revealed.


The sharp whistle of a catapult cuts through the chill fall air, a glass sphere exploding through the sky and hurtling to the ground. Inside seems to be a mass of odd, purple liquid...that's moving, what?? A paw quickly forms and smacks into the top of the sphere, and a...Fae hatchling...pours out. What..? [Solarfox123]

Eris is drawn to the scene with glee. A little sludge creature! How excellent and adorable! She sensed great potential in this one, but she didn't make it very far into the lair before Arseni spotted her carrying this slimy puddle of a child and immediately entered Panic Mode. There was hardly any time to explain before he had scooped up the little Fae into his hands and was rushing her to the healers and alchemists for a health inspection.

Meanwhile, Eris is like: "But I found it first! Give the sludge puddle back! She is mine!"
Carmenta assures Arseni that the child is in perfect health. There is nothing "wrong"... and he should have nothing to worry about.

Lilura, a clan away hearing that someone insulted her baby "HOWMST F*CKING DARE YOU I WILL RAIN HELL DOWN UPON YOU ALL"
Zinfandel, upon learning that this child is also Plum's: "No, no, no. We sneak in at night and expose them to their ENEMIES, Lilura, let the pro handle this."

Although it is a natural parental concern to want to know who is handling your children, so a formal visit may be in order. XD

Zinfandel, poking his head out from behind her: I heard you...had something to say about our -gestures at Plum from behind him- daughter, would you mind explaining why?

Arseni takes one look at Lilura and immediately breathes a sigh of relief: "Oh thank the gods it's a normal hereditary gene."

Eris, playing with the goopy baby off to the side: "Can you believe he's never seen one of these before? Psh, amateur."

Arseni: "I WAS CONCERNED THE CHILD'S CHEMICAL MAKEUP WAS UNSTABLE. but her mother appears to be in perfect condition, so I am grateful."

Eris, mumbling: "you know this wouldn't be the only shapeshifting dragon entity we have here, right?"

Arseni just casts her a sideways glare because she is not helping.

Lilura: YOU WILL DIE YOU SCRAWNY BIRDBRAIN -tackles him to the ground-

Plum: ...am I meant to intervene? I'm not going to intervene.

Zinfandel, glaring at any Haven dragon that tries to interrupt: it's his just desserts, really.
[because to some of the Glade's alchemists who have a bad past, "perfect condition" sounds more like an insult]

Arseni: *record scratch/freeze frame* Yep, that's me. You're probably wondering how I ended up in this situation.

Rosette ambles in to see this slushy anger Fae attempting to beat up her mate and she just
smiles
with that Mom Is Disappointed look in her eyes
"Excuse me, but might I request that you leave the good gentleman alone? Our children and I would be very upset if you damaged him. Besides, why ruin an absolutely beautiful day with a fight when we could be enjoying a spot of tea and talking like adults instead? I'm sure we're all very mature here and it would upset me greatly to have to send you all home so soon after you just arrived. Oh, you would just adore our clan chefs' newest recipes they've been experimenting with~"

"YOUR HUSBAND INSULTED CHILD AND WAS THREATENING TO ME AND I SHALL HAVE BLOOD FOR IT"

"Threatened you and insulted a child? In what way, dear? Surely, we can use our words to resolve this, hm?"

Meanwhile Plum is like "your grandma will be very, very, very upset if you break our squishy fae so...maybe just....tell him to apologize." Zinfandel raging because the stupid feATHERBRAIN SHOULD APOLOGIZE ON HIS OWN AND HOW DARE HE but Plum's just going "I'm sure he meant well but he used some...specific terminology...that is something of a trigger for our friend here, and now she's...well she's rather concerned about her daughter's safety. She's new to the clan, left her old one for...certain circumstances, she doesn't know that you all can be trusted. Let me put it this way. If you can make him apologize. We will make HER apologize."

Plum's explanation is enough to suffice, so both Arseni and Rosette have this "aaaaaaaah" moment and Arseni switches from his frantically confused "I have no idea what it was I supposedly did, I was expressing relief that the child was in good health and my initial fretting was for naught" to a much more calm and soothing "I understand now that this situation stems from a particular incident that I was previously unaware of. I am truly sorry for speaking out of place, please forgive my confusion and poor choice of words, for it was never my intention to upset you and I sincerely hope we can move past this point into a mutual understanding in the future"

and Eris is just sitting on the sidelines handing the sludge puddle popcorn and miming eating it like "this is the proper way to enjoy live action dramas like this"

Eris is clearly a good influence 10/10 babysitter


Lilura: -MORE IRATE SCREECHING-


At that point she would slide off of him, probably still quietly aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaing, but she manages to apologize...somewhat, almost like the words are unfamiliar to her, and then crawl flutter off into the distance where, now that the attention is NOT on the screaming maniacal fae, there is clearly an Imperial who acted as their airplane and just. flops on his head. Quietly screaming.

Plum and Zinfandel do attend lunch tho.

Meanwhile Eris has become Aunt Eris and will raise this child into a chaos bean. XD


Rosette, helping Arseni up and dusting him off: "There there, dear. You handled that very well, but I do hope she will be alright. It's a shame the poor thing couldn't stay. We could have helped her feel right at home here."

Arseni: "I'm sure they're taking good care of her back in the Glade, love. These things take time and you can't love them all back to health. We have plenty of children who need our attention here."

Instead, Rosette will pamper the heck out of Plum and Zinfandel, and then send them back home with a weighty care package to share with everyone. Though she still has Rui bring some snacks over to the "airplane" because no one's touching down on her turf without receiving SOME form of her hospitality! That would be unheard of! XD
