Kheldin started out as a piece of art accidentally brought to life. He is the "more seen than heard" type and rarely speaks to anyone.

Kheldin's egg was found by a magic user in the Starfall Isles. The dragon actually thought it was a fossil, covered as it was by an encrustation of obsidian and opal. She considered it a curiosity, and brought it home... making a lantern out of it by flooding it with arcane energies. After a while, she even forgot what it had been - it was just her workroom lamp.

Until the day it had absorbed enough energy to actually reanimate the hatchling within. Swirls of energy flooded into and around the egg before it literally burst its shell.

The dragon within appeared to have absorbed the materials that had cradled its egg as well as the magics that had lighted it for so long. Utterly bemused, Kheldin's unwitting creator gave him a name and attempted to teach him as she would any other hatchling. They lived happily together for a while until Kheldin decided he wanted to go see the world.

Unfortunately Kheldin has a very hard time speaking. Unused to words, he avoids them. As such, he had a difficult journey trying to find a home of his own. And then he stumbled onto Chaotic Daydreams. Several of the dragons here didn't speak much either, and they welcomed him into their midst. Kheldin realized that he does have something to offer the world, even if it isn't using his voice... and with the help of the lunatics, he'll find it.
