The sky darkened, when they first met. The echoes of rolling thunder from afar sounded ominous, yet gentle and becalming. Hymn was awakening. His lithic body crumbled, his seraphic wings unfolded, his shadow tears started to flow - but he noticed the odd bird instantly, which was fixing their gaze on him, sitting in the shadows of the trees, pale and golden. Time passed by, and every night when he opened his eyes and started singing his mystic hymns, the odd Yatagarasu was sitting there, listening without moving. Hymn was sure that his time was about to end soon - a Yatagarasu was supposed to be a dark omen, and seeing them is a deadly curse. After months had gone by, a thunderstorm was breaking through the sky, tremendous enough for Hymn to end his memorial songs, searching shelter beneath the trees.
"Will you write a song for me as well, when I'm gone?"
The odd bird fluttered from the tree.
Hymn looked at them vigilantly and full of curiosity. "When you're gone? Aren't you here to curse me?"
"I'm not. I'm dying." The odd bird opened their eyes, and shadow tears, just like Hymn's, were running down their face. "I am the one who is cursed. I'm searching for your help to cure this curse. Even though you share the same curse, you have been living for decades."
Hymn was laughing gently. "The same curse? My eyes are a blessing. I'm crying for heroes and saints, so that they never will be forgotten, and so that the hearts of the bereaved heal from their sorrows and pain. These eyes are a gift from the heavens."
With these words it all started. Eclipse decided to stay with him, adopting a dragon form, so they can spend time and learn together at night, returning to their Yatagarasu form during daytime, sitting on Hymn's peaceful statue, protecting and guarding him from creatures who might want to destroy or steal his secrets and knowledge. Every night they continue to form their bond, moving around freely, and searching for a way to break Eclipse's curse - maybe Hymn's healing shadow tears are the solution to this riddle? Eclipse loves to show him things she's seen during the day or places she's flown to, when not directly guarding his resting spot - and as crows sometimes do, she brings him interesting items she has "borrowed" during daytime.
And so the story of the gentle and dangerous side of the shadows will continue to be written: it's a story about trust, acquaintance, and the process of accepting yourself for what you truly are. There's a little light hidden in every shadow - and you have to treasure and care for this light to make it grow.

Eclipse makes the world a darker place. Empress wrapped in shadows, an eternal shade; light forsakes ground she walks on. Flowers die a slow death of withering for sun's rays can't reach their petals. It's a curse Eclipse bears with morbid pride ever since she dared to attack the kingdom of Lightweaver and oppose her will. Eclipse could never feel quite at home in the blinding world of light.
Her eyes now melt for all eternity, overflowing with thick goo of shadows - a punishment for her rebellion. Every drop that should fall onto the ground stains it with void blackness forever, spreading the darkness of Shadowbinder until she reigns over Sornieth with unparalleled might.
