Tailtiu
Offspring of an Acidic Feather
A gentle feather, flowing in the wind, yet tainted purple with something that only existed underground. Under the gentle touch of the sun, the feather formed into a body, sprouting two wings. Gently being laid against the earth, a small coatl appeared, a beautiful purple with an underbelly dusting of grey.
She has heard no sound, and has heard no evil. Her ears, deafened to the world, give her nothing to listen to. Her childhood struggled with no understanding of voices, and no voices understanding her. A father and Mother, she had neither of, for she was made from a being underground who was robbed of freedom, and so she was robbed of her hearing. Into Adulthood, she become a lone tender of a foliage around her home, a garden of sweet berries and fresh vegetation. Others only bartered with the numbers she held up in her claws, never giving her full sentences, but always pointing and suggesting...
Then, someone came along. His colors, pastel yet colored like a sunset, caught her eyes first before she saw the rest of him. Greys, hidden under a coat and hat, still looked so gentle and soft. He was meek at first, shuffling nervously as he admired the plants around her, eventually saying something in a language she could understand.
'What is your name?'
It was her first contact with someone who could sign words to her, her hands fumbling to sign her name in response. The tundra, from under his hat, sighed in relief as he signed back his own name. 'I am Luccio, nice to meet you.'
She never thought someone would learn something so difficult, but Luccio did. He taught himself to speak like her, so she wouldn't feel so alone, and they chatted until the sky turned dark in hues of mauve.
'Please, return again. I could say so much to you, but one day is not enough.'
'Tomorrow sounds like a good day to understand you, Tailtiu.'
