Most insidiously, his cruelty is not obvious through his appearance and mannerisms. He knows what roles to play, how weasel his way into the hearts of his targets and how to avoid suspicion. He lets them form emotional attachments to him over the months or years, it’s more interesting that way. Whether or not he returns any of those feelings is debatable. Super manipulative, loves mind games, especially when the one on the receiving end is completely unaware. If they start to doubt and distrust before the time is right, well....... he’s never been one to leave his loose ends untied.

Likes to use a combination of home-grown toxins and his own magic, favours the control it gives him in a variety of situations, but both sharp and blunt objects will do the job in a pinch. Still, not everything has to end in a death. There are other ways to ruin a life, after all. Ofttimes, these ways are all the more satisfying.


Has some sort of feelings about Faolan. He doesn’t think highly of the skydancer’s intelligence but, at the very least, the man is loyal to a fault. He’s interesting. Ariston didn’t think he’d see him again after Faolan’s arrest but here they are, years later, in the same place by chance. He’s keeping his distance for now, to observe and assess. He doesn’t know if Faolan is even capable of harbouring a grudge, but he’ll test that out in due time.
