______ Those who have met Akoni Musk, or Aki, as he calls himself, know of his sharp, cold personality and his chaotically violent tendencies. The Plague ancestry of mirrors runs strong- he is every bit as vicious and tough as a dragon native to the Scarred Wasteland. He's clever, cunning, able to manipulate without any apparent effort. He's undeniably evil, but almost charming, in his own way. His smile is just a little too toothy, gestures made with claws every-so-slightly too long, eyes just a bit off.

______ Akoni had to fight for survival in the unforgiving bitter cold of the Southern Icefield from the day he hatched. He was never offered help, never given a way out- he had to claw his way to the top, and when he crawled into a criminal organization that stole from rival clans, all the better. He swiftly ascended the ranks, leading missions and becoming unbearably successful, until a mission went wrong. Aki, then barely an adult, was separated from the rest of his team in the middle of the biggest blizzard of the year, and even his ice heritage wouldn't be enough to save him.

______ Just as he thought he would never escape the frigid snow drift he had become entrenched in, an enormous red form burst through the pile of white ahead that he had taken to be a hill. Glowing yellow eyes caught his attention, and the guardian picked him up by the scruff of his neck like a hatchling. He wriggled and complained in vain, voice too weak to travel up to the guardian's ears as it smashed its way back to where it had been sheltering the storm. It placed him next to its fire, and set him alight with its warm, healing powers of light.

______ This guardian, enormous and scarred, called him an idiot as soon as he opened his mouth to speak. Talking to him was like talking to a wall that had been covered in insults- he had nothing to say unless it was to grunt or insult Aki. Eventually, after hours of prying and wheedling, the guardian introduced himself as Alan. He had been drawn to the Southern Icefield searching for his charge, and with a disgusted note in his voice, he informed Aki that they were stuck together.

______ Akoni could have hardly been more pleased. A free bodyguard, just like that! Alan was no small guardian, with what seemed like miles of shining red-and-green scales and rippling muscle. When Aki returned to his organization with Alan in tow, he was sure to inspire fear in all those he came across!

______ He wasn't wrong. Over the following years, he climbed the ranks with Alan right behind him, watching over him and snarling at anyone who got too close. Eventually, his reactions began to seem a little too aggressive- he was protective, sure, as was his job, but it seemed like such little, innocent things set him off. Akoni confronted him, and eventually Alan quietly admitted his feelings.

______ Aki was shocked. Who wouldn't be? Who would care about such a violent, cold dragon, especially a mirror who preferred to kill first and ask questions later? But Alan did. While he held no delusions about Aki being better than he was, no aspirations to reveal some kind of inner good, he did see something in him. Something that Aki saw almost mirrored in the enormous guardian who had definitely not expected to get this far.

______ They began a relationship- tentative, at first, but later they threw themselves wholeheartedly into it. Several more years passed, as they fell deeper and deeper in love. Aki kept them stable, Alan kept them alive. Although rival groups and furious clans struck back at their organization, it was never enough to stop them.

______ Until it was. Until a clan had had enough of their bullying, their thievery, and gathered all the local clans in the area to strike back at them. The organization didn't stand a chance- nearly everyone, Alan included, was killed, and Aki escaped with his larger left eye torn out, the smaller damaged beyond repair. He was knocked unconscious, thought dead, and when he awoke, he picked his way through the corpses until he found Alan's slumped form.

______ He didn't move for weeks. He nearly starved to death, coiled in the mangled curve of Alan's body, until one night he dreamed of Alan yelling at him and telling him to get on with his life. When he awoke, he buried Alan in the ice, freezing him over as much as he could to preserve his body. He pieced together armor from his fallen comrades and left.

______ Aki spent the next several years living on the outskirts of the Southern Icefield, tracking down stray individuals of the group that killed Alan. When he found them, he would torture and kill them, leaving their bodies as grim trophies of what he had done. He dabbled into Plague magic, making a deal with a powerful spellcaster to give him an eye the color of pustules, allowing him to see the lifeforce of those he gazed upon.

______ Eventually, rumors reached him of a couple of Plague criminals in the Shifting Expanse. Normally, he cared little for rumors, or wanted posters, but one of their crimes caught his attention - necromancy. Drawn on the posters was the visage of a vicious guardian, a bone-adorned imperial, and a half-rotted ridgeback, walking as if she wasn't many years dead.

______ That was all the incentive he needed. He packed his things and journeyed to the Shifting Expanse. Criminals know how to find other criminals, and he soon came upon the Insidious. He introduced himself as Akoni Musk, only surviving member of the Fang. FierceReaper was suspicious of him, at first, until he directed questions concerning necromancy to Arvon. After that, she welcomed him in with open arms.

______ Beneath the sounds of thunder in the Shifting Expanse, the rattle of bones and cackling of cultists can once again be heard. This time, there are three voices, two large and one small, all demented and one consumed by grief.

______ After all, if a guardian can bring back her charge, why can't a charge bring back his guardian?
