KOGORUHN
"We hear the words and must speak them."

eKHywtQ.png
“One of the most peculiar examples of magical contamination I’ve ever seen were in the scant clans of Crystalrot Eyrie, where all but the most hardy refuse to tread. Each of these clans were of one Flight or another--Plague or Arcane--and haunted this stretch of land like living ghosts. There were so few who were spread so thinly that it would sometimes be years before these meager clans would catch wind of a dragon not their own.

“However, there was something that they all had in common: The Poison Song. It was magic and madness combined, the culmination of the Arcanist and Plaguebringer’s energies colliding so violently that they created something entirely new. It created an entity--a Song, if you will--that permeated the minds of a select few with the aptitude for foresight, and it filled them with the knowledge of the universe so completely that it rotted the vessel’s mind.

“The ‘Singers,’ as I called them, could tell you everything about anything. They could look at a stranger and know their name, their sins, their future. They could walk into a place and list off every death and birth and battle and celebration it had known. But it all came out in riddles and rhythm, poetry set to a beat, a beat they said the world marched to. Every footstep, every syllable, every gust of wind was just a part of the Song.

“I thought them crazy, until I began to notice the words they sang to me, though they didn’t make sense at the time, all came true. The curse of the Poison Song, I suppose, is that it all sounds like mad rambling until it’s too late…”

-- Musings of Magic, Chapter XVIII, Cross-Elemental Magic

"It makes us a little mad, yes. All of the other clans in The Abandoned like to talk about Kogoruhn like she isn’t even a living thing, or like she’s some kind of mindless invalid who isn’t aware of the fact she’s being talked about. They speak of her as if she’s cursed, as if she’s some tortured soul who is a slave to the whims of an outside force.

She isn’t. She can stop singing whenever she wishes, but she loves the Song, and beyond her gifts, she’s smarter than most in this canyon. It's just that the Poison Song is abstract, a puzzle, and she speaks as it speaks and sings as it sings, and others are too stupid to understand it. We understand her, and so we reap the benefits of her counsel, but the rest of the Abandoned is too closed-minded to even try to figure it out.”

HISTORY
Kogoruhn was raised within The High Temple of Pestilence, a powerful and respected monastery that once stood on the edge of The Wyrmwound. There, she was raised as a Sybil to the Plaguebringer,, and the arts of song and divination were taught to her from a young age. Though raised separate from the world, she eventually met and fell in love with the wandering Dagoth, causing her to turn her back on her training and follow him into Sornieth. Unfortunately, as he grew corrupt, the soul sickness spread to her as well, morphing her both physically and mentally.

Kogoruhn erupted in a myriad eyes, and began to hear a haunting song that she felt compelled to sing. The song--called The Poison Song by Dagoth--is neverending and follows the beat of the world, bringing with it visions of the future in bursts of strange, cryptic poetry. Since she is incapable of thinking straight during the more powerful refrains of the Song, she chants important bits to her clan so that they may decipher it in her stead.

While she seems mad, Kogoruhn is actually a helpful, gentle, good-natured dragon who is well aware of what is going on around her and is baffled as to why others find her crazy. While she does have a dark and sometimes mean sense of humor, she is generally friendly and forthcoming with information, and incredibly dedicated to protecting her clan and hearth.

SEDURA
Despite his grotesque appearance, he’s a well-mannered and helpful creature, both dignified and wise. It’s unknown what spirits have coalesced to form him and why exactly they show such an affinity for Kogoruhn and The Sixth House. What is known is that he often is Kogoruhn’s translator, far more direct than his mistress, meaning that the brave and desperate can consult him instead of puzzling out her meaning.
