Biography

When she was young, Saria was exiled from her clan of origin for criticizing the Lightweaver. Too proud to seek charity, she went to the only place she knew she could make her own way: Hewn City. She lived a long life full of difficult experiences. Eventually she decided she didn't want that life anymore, but she didn't want to go back to ordinary Light life.

She and some others started what they called a "halfway house": halfway out of the dark, still able to help those who are there. Those at the house right now include Mercury and Tillin. Saria herself has enough magical power to defend the place, even from a band of Anzo's goons.
About Hewn City

A ruined, skeletal landscape of shattered structures, gripped by a shade that boggles even the Light dragonflight's most studious archaeologists. In this broken city lay secrets that are too mysterious to unearth, and even the bravest dragons are given pause when approaching its haunted outskirts.

In the reactor explosion that ended the Second Age, the city's buildings were horizontally sliced, giving it its name. There is also a constant darkness over the place which ordinary light can barely make any headway against. The darkness has been confirmed to be magical in origin, and it is not related to the Shade. It is said that the souls of the original city-dwellers are still trapped here, but most dragons do not believe it.

The dragons of Hewn City have many different reasons for being there. Some literally prefer the dark. Some were driven out of most other places. Some reject the Lightweaver's authority; of these, some moved to Hewn for purely symbolic reasons while others believe that the magic there actually prevents her from seeing them. Some simply wish to be left alone. Some want to participate in business or magic practices that other dragons find immoral or unnatural. Given how many different belief systems and motivations are represented, most of these dragons are either isolated individuals or in very small groups.

Most of them are Light dragons, and some still love the light.

There are no maps here. If you know, you know.

The only rules are Hewn hates the Shade and never bring hatchlings. Keep your weapons and purse close.
About Lantern Corridor

At some point, a very wealthy dragon expended a great deal of magical energy to lessen the darkness in a small area. This is known as "the Bright Spot". He then set up a small market there to sell his own wares, protected by his personal mercenaries. This has grown into a larger region called Lantern Corridor, with most shops huddled along one long trail of lights. Only those whom this dragon approved could sell there, and plenty of dragons have been banned for life from even being there. He has since passed away, but his two sons, Loren and Likon, carry on his legacy.

More recently, a dragon named Anzo with his own muscle has come in and tried to change things. Long-time residents are wondering what's going to happen.
