Ourea was hired onto the Silent Crow Outpost's acquisitions team after Marie, the acquisitions manager, watched her engineer a brilliant marketplace scam involving counterfeit treasure, several identical potion bottles, and a lot of spider-silk. Marie approached her while she was counting her newly-acquired (real) treasure a few rows of stalls over and offered her a job. Ourea accepted when she realized that Marie was from the Silent Crow. She worked diligently with the rest of the acquisitions team for a couple of seasons, deftly parting dragons from their money. Ourea is fairly good with her claws and can misdirect attention with relative ease, but her real talent is her uncanny ability to persuade. It's not obvious at first. She isn't outwardly charismatic or particularly striking, but once she gets to talking, once she has you talking back, you'd find yourself hard-pressed to dislike her or disagree with her. Marie was fond of saying that she could "invite a Longneck over for dinner and it would say yes before it even knew it was talking to a dragon". Even Eloise, the head of the Acquisitions Department, was quietly impressed. The thing about Ourea is that she doesn't know how to have a home. There is no great tragedy in her life to account for this, no obvious excuse. She just stagnates if she stays in one place for too long. A year or two in one territory and she has to move on. Although the Silent Crow was bordering on making her an offer she couldn't refuse, in the end they let her go with their well wishes. She doesn't thirst after power, but she requires adventure the same way she requires water. Wherever she goes next will find itself facing a calculatingly friendly face and a serious threat to the contents of their purses.
