- - - ▢ Personality and Role
Demi is your average Gaoler. He lives to serve, perfectly fulfilling his purpose as an Overseer. He wishes for nothing more than to exist and thrive, and prefers a life with minimal changes. It is Spark that usually makes all of the decisions, and Demi is happy to let her do so, for she is of a higher Order than him. He trusts her, and in turn she would never lead him astray. Demi is mellow and patient, a bit of a doormat at times, but a welcome asset to the Caravan. Many are surprised that he is of such a high Order, wondering how such a complacent dragon could ever achieve such an accomplishment. The simple fact of the matter is, when Demi finds something he is interested in, he will do everything in his power to stick with it. The collecting of Horrorbeasts and Shade-Touched creatures just happened to be immensely fascinating to him. And so, he weaseled his way into the Overseer Order, a happy and useful worker.

- - - - ▢ History
Demi was born in the Viridian Labyrinth as a rather plain Pearlcatcher. He was quickly sent off to the Southern Icefield for a small treasure price, his fate to be one of the exalted. Demi did not particularly mind such a fate, though he was a little disappointed that he had to serve such a cold deity in such a cold place. While waiting to be trained by the senior warriors, Demi wandered off. The young dragon had not exactly prepared for such an expedition, however, and was soon shivering and unable to find his way back. He encountered a prison in the Fortress of Ends, and was immediately fascinated, grateful for shelter from the weather as well. Demi was stopped by the guards, who regarded him with suspicion, but after explaining his plight they begrudgingly allowed him access inside. Despite the resident Gaolers' distrust of him, they answered Demi's questions about the prison. The Pearlcatcher begged to become one of them, saying that it would be no different than exaltation. Many were weary, thinking him to be an intruder, but a kind Overseer Warden decided to give Demi a chance. One breed change and naming ceremony later (up until this point, Demi was still unnamed), Demi started his training as an Overseer. Although he knew that the others would never truly accept him, Demi was content with his new lifestyle. It was much better than fighting to the death, and the creatures he captured were immensely interesting. Demi thought that he would never leave his new home. That is, until he met Spark.

- - - - ▢ Name
Demi's first name refers to his element as Nature. "Demi" means half, partially, or something that is slightly inferior. As Demi is a Nature dragon that once worked in the prisons in the Fortress of Ends, and not even one born as a Gaoler, he is inferior to the more "pure" Ice dragons. His last name, "Frostshaard", was bestowed upon him when he became the official mate of Spark. As she is above him in rank, he disowned his last name "Mistbearer" in favor of Spark's surname. His nickname, "The Collector", was something he acquired when other Gaolers realized that he had an interest in collecting the frozen remains of Horrorbeasts. Only the dead ones. The others do not attempt to dissuade him from this harmless fascination, as long as the creatures show no threat of reawakening, though they do find it rather troubling.

▢ Trivia

Gives frozen Horrorbeast corpses to those he likes as gifts. It's the thought that counts, right?
Demi is suspicious of Whistler. Maybe it's just his mind playing tricks on him, but he swears that Whistler isn't all Gaoler. Nonsense and Anastasia claim that the goop is due to the Shadowbinder's influence and hers alone, but what if they're lying? Demi intends to find out the truth, and nothing but the truth.
Likewise, he also feels this way about Iro. No one explicitly told him to pursue dragons he finds could be a danger to the Caravan, but hey, it's a thankless job and someone has to do it. He has a suspicion that Iro's changes aren't just due to Rosemary's magic, if his jumpy attitude is anything to point claws at.
Met Melliferous due to his obsession with Iro, as Mel is friends with a dragon that Iro is friends with. Mel agreed to help Demi in his mission to keep the Caravan safe, and the two started hanging out together.
