Biography
Vacatiano is a gallant, softspoken Prince of the Light, and at first he didn't know what to make of Captain Verdigris; she boarded his ship in the midday sun as they were tossed about the waves, head held high, laughing and brandishing a glinting sword. When brought before her, he offered nothing but poised silence, even as her crew jeered at him.
"And what have we here?" she asked him, grinning with all her teeth. "Who are ye, princeling, who dares wander my Sea so boldly?"
Vacatiano looked down at her, wrinkling his nose. "I am Vacatiano," he hissed, "Prince of the Mirrorlight Promenade, and I will not be intimidated by you, pirate."
The Guardian appeared to shift back, ever so slightly, at his declaration. The grin never left her face, but he saw the dancing, playful light diminish in her eyes.
"Off to wed ye a princess, eh?" she growled lowly, gruff. He nodded, surprised; how could she have known? "And you took the sea route because...?"
"Because I have heard rumor that my intended is a Guardian and not a Mirror as I was told," Vacatiano replied smoothly. "I hoped to settle in Wind with her and give her some proximity to her old homeland and offer me a chance to live in the starting-place of my people, but if she is truly a Guardian...she would likely be far more comfortable in the Sea, and I wanted to look upon it before I got to her. Just in case." He hadn't the faintest idea why he was telling all of this to her and cut himself off.
"...Very well." She raised her head and roared to her crew. "Loot half-lot, boys, then off to the deeps!" Cheers and grumbles intermixed as her crew scrambled to do her will and Vacatiano glared. She grinned cheekily and took a step closer, lowering her voice to murmur to him.
"Aye, lad; yer intended is a Guardian and not the Mirror you were promised. Though perhaps that suits you better." She chuckled without joy or mirth. "I wish you the best of luck in finding her, and hope that once you do...she is to your liking." She gave him a nod and took off in a great gust of wind before he could speak, and he watched her soar to her own deck and land. Though he could not see it, he could feel how shaken she was, and he did not know the cause.
He held his head high and waiting for the looting to be over so they could continue sailing toward the land of Ice.
