Idunna

Idunna is a placid dragon from a small clan of Guardians settled on the outskirts of the Starfall Isles, having recently migrated there from the Fishspine Reef.
She's resolute and responsible, an expert in survival and management of resources. She keeps tabs on the Bohemian Star Clan with her mate, Shanzar.




When she came of age, she left her clan and wandered through the Scarred Wasteland in pursue of a charge she could commit her life into protecting, according to her species traditions collectively called "the Search". She wandered day and night, surviving with what food she could gather in the plagued lands.

She once crossed her path with an abandoned Ultramel Amphitere hatchling she adopted as a companion, naming it "Aphie". They lived together as nomads, the serpentine creature lazily entangled with her horns while travelling and helping each other gathering food.
Idunna decided the life of this creature to be her charge to protect, and thus to have fulfilled the purpose of her Search.
Se decided to head back to her clan and inform them of her success, before starting to build her new life as a now "whole" dragon.

Idunna never made it to her old clan. Ambushed by a group of beastclans, she fought tirelessly to save her own skin and flee and seek refuge to the Windswept Plateu territories. Aphie was killed during the attack, marking her with a terrible shame for her tragic failure. Considering herself now only a half-dragon, she managed eventually to come back to the Starfall Isles but rather than facing the shame she brought on her name by failing her task she decided to stray away from her old clan.

She started building a new lair in the Crystalspine Reaches, slowly collecting rocks all around the arcane lands. The experience built during her wanderings in the Scarred Wasteland proved useful in her tasks, doubling her effectiveness at gathering resources with half of the effort. For how inhospitable the Reaches could've seemed, they were a mere joke compared to the plagued lands.
That's where she found a lost Mirror, laid on a stone baring the marks of a clear lack of competence in hunting across the lands - any land. Anything. Only a clueless idiot could've ended as he did.
Idunna took pity of the poor little meow meow and carried him to her lair, offering some fresh food and first aid. Being both outcasts, they decided to build a new clan together.

The Bohemian Star flourished and became a welcoming home for lots of lost dragons and their future families. Idunna found in Shanzar and their new community a new charge to make her a "whole dragon" again.
She spoke to her mate Shanzar about this one evening and he just raised his frills and commented with an "oh, I hadn't noticed you were missing limbs"
"No, you don't see-" Idunna tried to make her point, but she then realised Shanzar was missing it on purpose.
"I have four eyes, bloomy hell if I can see" he joked, before wrapping himself in his blanket and saying "goodnight, love"
Idunna stood awake in her beddings for a while, ruminating on the this last conversation.

She didn't need something to feel whole. That was just what her culture of origin raised her to believe. Her worth never depended on another dragon, object or place - only on herself.

She takes care of the Bohemian Star Clan business because that's what she loved to do, not because it was a task bestowed upon her from birthright to measure her worth.
She loves Shanzar because he's a silly and clever little noodle, not because her life had to rely on someone else to gain some meaning.

She had long searched for another half to complete her, when she had always been whole from the start.
