Aderyn of No Rank
I. One of the several children of Lonicera, Aderyn was hatched when he was still a few years before his retirement, but when he was training Galechka to be his replacement. Being raised by a strict warrior was always hard for Aderyn, perhaps even harder than having Corrente as a mother. Her father convinced her that being a warrior was the only way to live a fulfilling life in the Empire. Aderyn believed such a thing for so long, and acted as though the path of the warrior was the best path there was.

When she was five, Aderyn began training with the rest of the warriors. Though it was quite arduous, she knew that it was up to her to be a strong warrior to live up to her father's name. So she trained as hard as she could.

However, she found that she wasn't the greatest at fighting. No matter how hard she trained, she just wasn't going as quickly as her peers. Aderyn found that she was unable to live up to her father's name. She tried her very best, but she failed harder and harder as time went by. Lonicera saw her failures and began pushing her harder, telling her that she must live up to the mighty Euphemia family.

But she couldn't, and she knew it.

Eventually, Aderyn told her father that she couldn't live up to the name of Euphemia. She needed to find a different passion in life. She needed something else. Her father was quite disappointed in her, and fought bitterly with her about the whole thing. Aderyn didn't want to be a warrior anymore and wanted to instead find what her true calling was, whereas Lonicera wanted his daughter to continue to fight. They continued their fight well into the night and into the next day before finally, Lonicera did the unthinkable: he kicked his daughter out of the family den.
She was only nine at the time.

Leaving her den was hard, but Aderyn knew she had to go. And she went somewhere she never thought she'd go: to Kantor, a single dragoness in the Commontry. Aderyn was quite dismissive of Kantor at first, seeing her as a weak and lowly dragon that didn't deserve her respect or kindness. At the same time, Kantor was also raising the new Imperial Sakura, who had joined the Empire of the Moonlit Waves at the age of ten.

At first, Aderyn was extremely dismissive of both Kantor and Sakura. She would always stay in the deepest and darkest corners of the den where she would eat all her meals and everything else. She would often snap at the two before going back into her corner to sulk.

Despite this, Sakura always tried to befriend Aderyn. The Raspberry Imperial had such a cheery disposition and was there to cheery up Aderyn, despite her complaints. It was Sakura who convinced Aderyn to come to one of the great markets with other Water clans. Aderyn found it very exciting and fell in love with the size of the market. She bought a bunch of jewelry that she shared with Sakura, thanking the Imperial for bringing her to the market.

II. Sakura was so happy that her friend was finally opening up to her, and accepted Aderyn's gratitude.

Over the next few days, Aderyn found herself being pulled alongside Sakura and nearly coerced into doing things that the other Imperial wanted. At first she protested, but came to understand that was just part of Sakura's eccentric nature and eventually went along with it. The two would find themselves running around not just the clan, but also the rest of the Leviathan Trench. They befriended each other quickly after Aderyn began to overcome her father's stigma, and Sakura helped her get out of her funk.

If anyone in the clan wasn't aware of the friendship between the two, they would have had down for brains. As they journeyed, they would often be seen with their tails or talons entwined and on one occasion, Sakura even kissed Aderyn on the cheek. The last one surprised Aderyn. She didn't think that Sakura—her best friend for goodness sakes—could ever be in love with her! It was completely unexpected.

Though Aderyn was caught off guard, she did feel as though there was somewhat of a reciprocation with her feelings. As time passed, she found herself exploring those feelings more. Sakura allowed her to do so, giving her space and a break from their close relationship. When Aderyn finally came back, she said that she still wasn't sure how she felt, but was willing to give being courting partners a try. Sakura was elated, and celebrated by kissing Aderyn full on. The two friends now turned lovers spent nearly all their time together in the markets and journeys and just goofing off when they really should have been working.

Years passed, and eventually Sakura proposed to Aderyn. No one was surprised by this, and the two dragonesses prepared for their wedding. Though Aderyn was happy she was finally getting what she always wanted, she found herself quite depressed as the day of the wedding grew closer.
She missed her father.

III. By this time, Lonicera had retired from the way of the clan and retreated to the depths of the Trench with Aderyn's step-mother Ellari. He spent his days in the shadows, barely coming out of his small corner. He was barely aware of what was going on throughout the clan and was thus very surprised when his daughter came to visit him and told him that she wished to reconcile and wanting Lonicera to walk her down the aisle. Though Lonicera originally refused thanks to the prodding of Ellari, he did come around and agree.

So on the day of her wedding, Lonicera and Aderyn spent their time getting to know each other again. As he walked her down the aisle, Lonicera apologized for how rude and not understanding he was. Aderyn forgave him and she was happily married to Sakura.

About a year after their marriage during the Night of the Nocturne, Sakura and Aderyn were out leading the Nocturne celebrations with Opal, Viridiana and Mani when they came to find a Nocturne egg. They were both very confused, but took the egg back home with them after completing the celebration flight. The two discussed and decided to take the egg in and raise it as their own.

A few months passed by and the egg finally hatched. What came out was a small Nocturne, who had Plague eyes! The two were very surprised, and Sakura was somewhat horrified by the fact that it was a Plague dragon. She thought that it would have been better to have the hatchling be raised by Ivarr and Tara, but Aderyn convinced her to keep him. So the two named him Arviasal Daypetal, and raised him lovingly. The young dragon grew to be a talented playwright and actor, and his parents would so proud of him.

Two years later at another Night of the Nocturne they found another Nocturne egg which eventually hatched into Eurwyn. They took him in as well and raised him alongside Arviasal. Aderyn and Sakura love their two children and were both so excited when Arviasal stated he was going to marry Miyako and Eurwyn expressed his love for Larkspur. So now they eagerly await their grandhatchlings. Aderyn herself has found inner peace in being a no-ranked dragoness and lives a peaceful life with her gardener mate.
