Biography

JACKAL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
|
Reserved, polite, and a member of Vulture's former crew of train robbers. Jackal was born in Arcane, but he says he has a wanderer's soul, and he's been to every corner of Sornieth before he fell in with Vulture and the rest. His favourite hobby is rock collecting, and pieces of his collection have come from all over Sornieth. A prodigious magician, Jackal's specialty in offensive battle-magic made him an asset to Vulture's crew. This specialty in battle-magic is especially surprising considering his gentle and quiet personality, a fact he took frequent advantage of. In fact, Jackal was the only member of Vulture's crew to be offered membership in Jotunheimr, the most selective Hall at Home, but he declined in order to remain with his friends in Helheim. He doesn't like to brag about his abilities, and prefers to use his magic only when absolutely necessary. Gentle, intelligent, and genteel, Jackal has a bit of an affected personality. He is so polite that he can easily come across as pretentious and even facetious to dragons who don't know him well, and he goes to pains to appear a well-educated and sophisticated dragon. He has a solitary nature, and spends much of his time alone, though he knows he can get so wrapped up in his own head that he's always sure to ask his friends what they think as often as possible. He frequently annoys his friends by waking them up in the middle of the night to ask what they think about some philosophical conundrum. Well-known for being easygoing and cheerfully unconcerned about the future, Jackal has never been one for rigid plans. He believes he's well equipped to handle whatever the future might bring. Despite this easygoing personality, he can also be a very impatient dragon, especially when he believes his friends might be in danger. Surprisingly for such a gentle and polite dragon, Jackal also has a mischievous streak. He's well-known for teasing or purposefully misleading dragons who are rude to him or his friends. Jackal can be a tough dragon to get to know, but he's also fiercely loyal and has a reputation for being the kind, well-meaning sort.
I believe in happiness. Also mischief. Also singing, especially when singing is not necessarily prescribed.
Behind the Name...
Jackals are small, omnivorous canids. Like foxes and coyotes, they are traditionally depicted as clever tricksters and sorcerers in folklore. They are also closely associated with loneliness, abandonment, and loyalty.
