Like her siblings, Miyako was forced to prove herself to the Empire after their parents came as outsiders. Despite having been hatched into the Empire itself, she was still treated as an outsider by many of the older dragons. It didn't take her long to realize how she wanted to prove herself to the Empire: she would become a warrior. She trained under Lonicera, who constantly belittled her work ethic and never believed in her. But she never let that discourage her, for she continued her training without complaint. Lonicera was silently impressed by her work, and continued training her. After Mahmut joined the Empire, Miyako soon grew impatient between them. The Mirror was just as good—if not better—than Miyako, and they soon formed a rivalry. Despite their constant snappiness and anger towards each other, a respect grew between them, even if they weren't entirely friends. This rivalry/friendship continued even once they were married, and no one expects it to end any time soon. After years of serving the Empire loyally, Empress Aislinn found it fit to promote her to a captain of her own platoon. Mahmut was promoted at the same time, and they knew they needed to one-up each other. Miyako's siblings were all proud of her, even Kasumi who normally wasn't a fan of her younger sister's bloodthirsty attitude. However, Hanako found it fit to tease Miyako about when she would find some nice dragon to settle down with. Miyako never wanted to do so, and vehemently protested against it. A year after her promotion, Miyako found herself patrolling with her platoon. She and Mei were leading said patrol, and were talking about what they wanted to do in the future. While returning to the Empire, they heard a scream. Terrified, they raced to the source, only to find Arviasal had gotten his wing stuck beneath a rock. Miyako managed to pull him out of it, and the Nocturne was eternally grateful to her. Arviasal started following Miyako around everywhere and although originally annoyed, she soon found his endless songs of praise towards here were very endearing, and she only wanted to hear more. Not every captain had their own poet, and he only had eyes for her. Miyako soon found herself falling in love with him, and proposed for she wanted to marry him. Arviasal returned the feeling, and they had a large, elaborate wedding. Although Arviasal wants hatchlings, Miyako wants to make sure the Empire is safe enough for that, and he agrees. |
