Malris the Cursed One "Well, I'll die someday, anyway..." |
The son of a formidable, cursed, warlord, Malris takes after his father- in some ways. A warlord he is not, but cursed he is. Malris once sought power at any cost, and it led him down the same road as Rickery- with horrible artifacts bound to him, giving him power. His mask is one such artifact.
Though his magical might is incredible- enough to earn him a spot in the caravan's circus- he cannot control it well. This makes him a lousy fighter at best, but a spectacular fireworks show. There's a reason the circus ring has a protective magical sphere, and it isn't Galtan's powerful familiars (like most patrons assume). It's Malris' wild bursts of multicolored fire.
Malris is surprisingly lighthearted and charismatic for a dragon so cursed he has little chance of living a fourth of the average dragon's lifespan. Despite all of Rickery's faults, Malris adores and looks up to his father. Sometimes, he wishes he were a member of the Hammertooth Mercenaries, but he isn't cut out for the brutality of mercenary work. Besides, he loves the cheers, gasps, and shouts of the crowd. Better to be loved and feared, Malris thinks.
It took a fair amount of time for Malris to adapt to life in the caravan. Most dragons have a hard time getting used to the caravan's nomadic nature, but Malris was already used to living in a moving clan. The Hammertooth Mercenaries prepared him for a life on the road, but they didn't prepare him for a life where peace was normal and there weren't fire demons and necromancers in his day-to-day routine.
