"It takes a pretty good deal to catch my eye."

Calidus came from the Hammertooth Mercenaries. While they were deadly and skilled in the art of war, Flamire and Glass didn't make particularly good parents. But it was all okay. Everything was fine! After all, Calidus was their best son. They loved him! He was the prettiest son they could've ever hoped for! In fact, he might just be the best ever. Really. He's not just saying that to hide his insecurities. Sure, there were a few times where Rickery found him crying and moping, but those were just bad days. Really.

Looking to get away from the Hammertooth Mercenaries for just a bit, Calidus signed on as a hired guard to the Conflagrant Caravan. It was his job to make sure they were safe crossing beastclan territory and the territory of potentially hostile clans. Though he was good at his job, he marveled at the caravan's performers. Unbeknownst to his home clan, he's dropped his contract and secretly started training to be a firebreather for the caravan. He works with Estos, transforming his magic (formerly used for fighting) into beautiful displays of art.

When Hammertooth Mercenaries come to visit, Calidus makes a dramatic show out of pretending to be a guard (though it isn't particularly convincing).
