Summary

From the moment of his birth, Poughkeepsie was seen as abomination. The small, sickly Mirror was but a flaw in a powerful line of dragons. Before he could open his eyes, Nemesis snatched the hatchling from his nest and took him deep underground to the Dungeons of the Tempest Asylum. Hidden away from the eyes of the world, Nemesis unleashed his fury upon the young one. The Ridgeback beat and tore at the hatchling until Keepsie was nothing more than a scrap of a dragon, curled up in the corner of a cold stone cell.

Yet the Mirror would not die. He would scarcely utter a single cry, despite being so young. Intrigued, Nemesis subjected the small dragon to a series of experiments. He tortured the hatchling and forced him through many trials that tested his response to pain and various wounds. To his surprise, the Mirror possessed regenerative abilities, and his flesh would rapidly mend from any injuries. Perhaps it was magical trait passed down from his mother, who was gifted with powerful visions? Myth was a sacred part of the clan, and highly respected among her peers for her insights and intuition. She was never to be harmed. Yet Nemesis dragged Myth down into the catacombs and tested her abilities with the same treatment he inflicted on Poughkeepsie. Myth showed no indication of healing and died swiftly at Nemesis' claws. His curiosity satisfied, Nemesis caged Poughkeepsie in his claws and strode deeper into the darkness of the Dungeons. He was determined to turn the creature into a valuable asset.

Months later, Poughkeepsie emerged from the caves, trailing at Nemesis' heels. He was beaten and submissive like a whipped dog, and there was a feral hunger in his eyes. His body had been so broken and deformed that his flesh split and crumbled with every stride. His former dark coat simmered underneath his new exterior, burning with an eternal inner fire. The flames of pain itself. The Mirror's hide was very pale and his body fragile and sickly. His form was stitched together with armor made of stone, scale, and bone. Without it, he would surely collapse into pieces, unable to regenerate. Part dragon, part demon, part machine. He was equipped to be a servant of destruction.

Poughkeepsie knew nothing but pain and suffering. There was no mother, no warmth. No father, no guidance. No companions, no compassion. He only understood his master's calls and the lust for violence. Since Poughkeepsie's unveiling, no dragon dares escape the Tempest Asylum. Nemesis trained his dog to be swift in stride and relentless in combat. Keepsie promises any traitor a slow, agonizing death. His only pleasure is the taste of a fresh kill.
