Biography

FAELLA
The Wyrmwound's Apprentice
Student | Alchemist

I. Something Slowly Brewing

Faella shone great potential from the time she hatched.
The first one to come out from her nest, she sparkled pride in her parent's eyes from the very beginning. As breeders, they were extremely content with such a successful batch that showed great potential, with already active, healthy hatchlings. Faella and her twin brother were left behind as a gift to their birth clan, to learn the ways of magic and science there taught.
Faella was a clever, extroverted child, able to turn even the clan's elderly impressed with her grace and charisma. Others would awe at her perfectly groomed feathers, gasp at her delicate flight technique and cry out laughter at her jokes. In the plague flight, dragons like these are a rare find, and she knew that way too well. The validation she craved and fought for earned it with a proud, satisfied smile.
At the beginning of her teenage years, Faella started to take lessons from the clan's alchemists, learning how to melt and brew. Often she was found studying alone in her den, or scavenging alone for needed material. Her teachers were impressed by how quickly she picked up on her lessons. And, as usual, she was their favorite, spiking jealousy in other students.
...So, maybe, what happened to her was a curse.

II. The descent

During a field expedition, Faella got to see the Wyrmwound for the first time.
As she got closer, she heard a whisper. As if the crater called for her. Singing her name in a loving tune. That seductive, unnatural tone, one no dragon or beast could ever mimic, the voice of a deity, embracing her in a tender, smothering, overwhelming sweetness.
She could not resist the call.
When the other students found her, it was too late, she had already drunk from the wound.
Only an indescribably horrid taste was left on her mouth. Her eyes widened, her paws shaken. She did not felt shame at the sight of her shocked colleagues, she did not feel regret, no. She felt no pain,
She only felt thirst.

III. Thirst

The young student was put under observation by the clan's scientists and magicians. The king himself knowing about the incident, ordering her confinement. Although Faellla was a plague dragon by nature, the Wyrmwound's contents always dooms those in contact to unpredictable fates, most being dangerous, either for the victim or for those aroujs them. Months and months of study passed with no result, the skydancer still seemed perfectly functional.
Well, except for the fact that she was always thirsty.
It seemed as so, Faella had a desperate need to taste the Wyrmwound again, no other food or drink was capable of bringing her satisfaction or pleasure. She started eating less and less, losing weight, always feeling lightheaded. Her once so beautiful plumages fading away. The fading of her beauty was sure a tragedy, but the clan was not surprised. Faella was not their first member to fall from grace, and for certain, would not be the last. She did not show any danger to the kingdom, however. Being still very capable of continuing her studies, eventually she was set free to roam the plaguelands once more.
Her brother begged and plead for the guards to not let her leave the clan territory again. Swearing to find her a cure, claiming that letting Faella feed her addiction would only worsen the condition further
Faella is desperate, however. And she will not let her brother's efforts stop her.

IV. Ambrosia

Her resolve was to try and dedicate her life to recreating the Wyrmwound's stew. Or at least, something that enough to relieve from her undying thirst. She now spends her days shut in her lair. Studying, researching, and consuming her experiments, calling the project her "Ambrosia".
She does not care for lab safety, nor for how healthy the malodorous goo she brews is. It's unclear if Faella dreads for her past, she seems too lost in her own cause, thinking only of feeding the dependence more and more. Few dragons still contact her, and she doesn't seem to be getting anywhere with her experiments either. Most have given up on her, considering Faella a lost cause, another victim of the plaguelands...
Except for her brother, and her brother only.
