- - - ▢ Personality and Role
Fortis is the leader of the Gaoler Caravan. He’s quiet, but eloquently spoken. He thinks before he takes action, and rarely makes impulsive decisions. His role as leader is basically Warden, as overseer of all the other roles. His title has been part of controversy, as other Gaolers and Ice-aligned creatures are disgusted at him for stealing the latter half of the Icewarden’s name, when Fortis himself is a Wind dragon. But the monochrome Gaoler hardly lets their jeers get under his skin.

- - - - ▢ History
Fortis was born in the Southern Icefield. As part of the Seeker Order, he eventually left his home as a lone vagabond, with really no purpose in life other than to ensure that everything was as it should be. At some point, he met Current and Duelist while in the Stormcatcher's realm, and they became fast friends. Though their group only consisted of them for some time, eventually it started to grow. As the Caravan travelled across Sornieth, they accumulated more and more friends, some who already knew Current or Duelist, and others with mysterious origins. They became a big, happy family, building prisons for other clans and catching those who wished to do harm to innocents. Everything was going well until Fortis was murdered. It happened in the Windswept Plateau, on a night like any other. Fortis returned, and his old vessel was never seen again. Of course, Fortis returned as a rightfully indignant newborn hatchling. After scaring everyone half to death, things almost returned to the ways they had been before, though they left the lands of Wind in a hurry. Even after he grew up again and resumed his position as leader, Fortis has still refused to tell anyone who or what killed him. It's a secret that will never leave him, but one he will take to his grave... or return with a vengeance.

He gets his nickname “Mortis” from the Latin word “death”, because Fortis is actually a reincarnation. His old vessel was killed by an unknown cause, so now Fortis is much younger than all the other starting members of the Caravan because he had to be reborn, but in reality his soul is years older. Others debated calling him “Angel”, but although Fortis does have a pair of ethereal wings and a halo that sprout from his body and actually allow him to fly, he’s sure that the nickname doesn’t really fit him.

▢ Trivia

Because of his rather supernatural nature, Fortis has acquired an unique disease. Hanahaki disease. A disease which stems from unrequited love. It doesn't seem to be able to kill Fortis, but it does beg the question; who is he in love with?
Fortis is one of the few Gaolers in the Caravan that can actually fly. Being the reincarnated creature that he is, he has a giant pair of translucent spectral wings that he can summon at will. Everyone is kind of jealous of this ability, but not of the fact that he had to die to receive it. He also has a halo of light that forms whenever he is angry or using his magic, and is branches out from his horns. It's rather embarrassing for him.
