Balgrid

Growing up with only her grandmother in her life never bothered young Balgrid. She spent most of her time running wild with other younglings in town often appointing herself as the leader in their many escapades. At night when her Baba Deidre, was back from work and Balgrid no longer had anymore school work to occupy her time the pair would sit together and Bally would listen as Deidre told her stories of the Icewarden's Gaolers and their various Orders. She was enthralled with her Baba's adventures and would often roleplay them with her friends at any given chance. As she grew older the stories became less about dashing adventures and more to the history of their family including various members of Deidre's family, her Grandfather Ysaly, and her father Aurkene and Deidre began to teach her spells that could be used to hide any trace of the blood she had inherited from her grandfather in order to not follow in his fate.

Time went on and Balgrid mad a place for herself as a clan guard. She began to notice that Deidre had grown more distant and was spending more and more time outside the clan. Remembering the stories Deidre had told her of her father she began to spend as much time as possible with her grandmother doing her best to commit as much as her stories and teaching to memory as possible. Deidre noticed and promised that while she was being called back to her duties she would never completely abandon the only family she had left in this world. Balgrid took the memory of this conversation to heart for those times when her grandmother would leave for months and occasionally years at a time.

Perhaps a century after Deidre took up her duties again another Gaoler made their way into the clan looking searching for a former partner and the child that he had taken with him. It wasn't long before someone recognized Aurkene's name and pointed her in Balgrid's direction. There was absolutely no question that Alcyoneus and Balgrid were mother and daughter when they were seen together. Unwilling to push a relationship so soon after having been reunited, Alcyoneus announced that she would settle here in order to get the chance to know her missing child.

Around this time she met the scholar Isodu and started a rather enthusiastic casual relationship with him.
