Alcyoneus

Structure in spell casting. That's always been Alcyoneus' approach to working magic. Even though many outside of her element find it odd that she is not as whimsical as many of her fellows appear she has always prized herself on being as precise as possible even going as far to create pre-made templates to make sure that all of her rune scripting and circles are similar down to the very last curve of a rune.

She was well accepted with her peers and known to attack any given task with a single minded ferocity. With little time for anything outside of work most of her relationships were relegated to one time encounters and the occasional romp with a friend. She met Aurkene when he passed through her clan during his travels they hit it off and any time his travels took him close to her clan the two would meet up if Alcyoneus had free time.

His visits began to dwindle and when they met up there was often more talking than any other activities. In spite of him being vague she was able to figure out that he had a Tainted blood line and he had become worried that it was making him act out violently and that he was beginning to consider serving under the Icewarden in the hopes of taming such outbursts. She understood that any future meetings could be their last and treated them accordingly. Finding herself ready to nest after the last time they met she took a leave of absence from her research duties to care for the child. Nesting seemed to take more out of her than it should have and when little Balgrid was hatched she was delighted to see that the child seemed fairly healthy. Unfortunately her health only worsened and her family shipped her off to be seen by healers in clan with a renown hospital. Upon her return her family tearfully claimed that little Balgrid had taken ill and quickly succumbed to her illness. In her grief Alcyoneus threw herself into work, often working into the wee hours of the morning and avoiding all personal relationships. Life continued this way for her until the day her great aunt died. On her deathbed the elderly Gaoler confessed that after she had been sent away to get better, Aurkene had come by to bid farewell and they had given him his daughter. She begged for forgiveness but that they could tell the child was tainted and that they had hoped that Aurkene would be able to handle the child.

Stunned by this information Alcyoneus spent the aftermath of the funeral in a stunned haze and once the funeral was finished, she resigned from her university packed only was necessary and left in the middle of the night heading for the Ashfall Waste. It took several years of going from clan to clan describing Aurkene and Balgrid to people but it wasn't until she was pointed to the Anagennisi Clan did she make any progress. Here she found that some people vaguely remembered Aurkene and his mother Deidre who had since left the clan. Deflated Alcyoneus
was resigned to continuing her search but they remembered that Deidre had raised a child for a time after her son had left and that girl was now a member of the clan guard. One of the clan was kind enough to lead her to one of Balgrid's regular haunts and when Balgrid entered a short while later she knew her search was over. She decided there on the spot to stay for a time with the hope of getting to finally know her daughter.
