mandrake is a quiet and reserved dragon who, despite his air of peace, is quite fearsome in battle. he defends his area of the forest from outsiders as well as the creatures known as the shade. he is unusually diplomatic and peacekeeping for a gaoler - a trait that is seen as a weakness by other gaolers.

born into a rather large family, he was given his rank as a seeker at a young age and sent off to live on his own. his early socialization allowed him to become independent while still being able to meet other creatures on his land without immediate displays of hostility.

after an encounter with dryad, who had accidentally stumbled upon his territory during a hunt, mandrake decided to accept her rather than fight, and the two became mates. they are now a power couple that protects their nest and shared territory with everything they have.
