Cauterets is an alien from "parallel Sornieth" found accidentally by Benjamin in Leviathan Trench, he got mistaken for an usual Spiral hatchling waiting to be sent to gods. He seems to be friendly to the clan members and pretty quickly got adapted, despite the fact he doesn't use any of the known languages.
There have been theories that his faceted eyes are adapted to see UV, so most likely his vision is similar to a bee's vision.
